No-Go for IndyFurCon
Posted 3 years agoI know I had mentioned it in a prior journal that I'd be going IFC 2022 (which would be my first con EVER), but I've since deleted it because I've had to rescind my intentions to attend.
So as much as I wanted to, I don't think I'm gonna be able to do it. It's either that or my trip to Norway later in the year, and I can't afford both, especially with how bad inflationary pressures have become since the start of this year. It has to be one or the other and I've been planning the trip abroad FAR longer than any wish to attend a furcon. Also unsure and hesitant considering their weapon/armor policies since it's such a staple part of my Aegerter costume, and I really don't feel like there's any point in going if I can't show that thing off.
Maybe next time đ I know the people I discussed it with were few and far between, but I'm sorry if I got your hopes up for wanting to meet or anything of the like. I'd very much like to try and attend FWA in 2023 or IFC in 2023 if things pan out how I'd like them to.

"The Rubber Princess" Fully Fixed!
Posted 3 years agoGreetings, all!
Just wanted to let you know that every single typo in The Rubber Princess, as well as any contradicting lore or continuity errors have been fixed, and the book reformatted! The PDF attached to the submission in question in my gallery has been updated to reflect this, and all future physical copies will also account for this as well.
My apologies to anybody whose reading experience was hampered by any of these issues and errors. As I said in one of my prior journals, much of this was on me, as I was too antsy to get the book out for sale as quickly as possible without proofreading very much. This time aruond, however, I think you'll all be much more satisfied :)

What should be the reasoning for Nayca's pursuits?
Posted 3 years agoGreetings, everybody,
You've likely noticed that I'm proceeding much slower with the sequel of The Rubber Princess. I feel like it's in part to the lack of enthusiasm I have in bringing life into brand new characters when I've come to love the cast of the prior book so much instead. Additionally, I feel like I'm lacking a rhyme or reason for the motivations of several characters (Dörig and Nayca, in particular).
Why does Degrelle have any reason to stop Nayca from reuniting with Aegerter other than it "bolsters his strength"? Why does Tùjik have any reason to assist Nayca in her journey other than he's just a selfless individual and he has nothing better to do? Why does Dörig have this convoluted goal to establish his own corsair state as a means of revenge against the people that wronged him? These all feel like weak and halfhearted reasons on my part as a writer, and the fact that I can't fully pour my enthusiasm into them might be another reason why I'm struggling to write at a quicker pace than in the previous installment. Any input on what other explanations might be better would be most appreciated.

Zuria's Redemption
Posted 3 years agoI know it's probably extremely early to be mulling this thought over since Zuria is likely not going to have much of a presence (if any) in Vengeance of Fire, but the thought came into my mind the other day of how she could possibly be reformed in a third entry in the series.
With Degrelle's disgust for rubbermancy, both holy and wicked, it wouldn't be beyond his motivations to try and pursue resurrecting the Unifying Emperor--a character who is shrouded in much mystery. He could be viewed as both a tyrant or a hero, depending on how one looks at it. For Zuria, naturally, he was the former. Perhaps Degrelle--in his quest to stamp out all manner of rubbermancy--would seek to bring the Unifying Emperor back into the world so that he would have the ultimate tool in combating Aegerter, Isarte, and his friends.
That would in turn leave Aegerter and company the only option of pursuing a resurrection of Zuria, who would have been one of the few who knew who the Unifying Emperor truly was at heart and who sought to avenge her own sorrows at his paws. With some convincing and mercy, perhaps she can yet be shown the goodness of rubbermancy, and that her hatred for the Unifying Emperor could be put to rest by means other than surpassing him at his own game.
This isn't set in stone, but I liked the idea so much that I felt I needed to put it into a journal so that I don't forget it. Perhaps it's something I'll pursue when I write another entry to the Icasran Saga. I know it's been slow going with Vengeance of Fire in contrast to The Rubber Princess, and I do apologize for this. I find my motivation lacking here and there, or maybe I just don't like the characters as much this time around. Nonetheless, one day I will see it through to the end and continue this marvelous universe I've created.

Typos in Hard Copies of "The Rubber Princess" and Fixes
Posted 4 years agoHey everybody!
I've noticed a large amount of typos in the hard copies of my book that are being sold. Most of them are capitalization, punctuation, or spelling errors that were overlooked, or revisions that were needed for purposes of continuity and cohesion for what is considered "canon" in Icasra now that the universe is more concretely established.
Almost all of this IS NOT the fault of the publicist; they were instrumental in helping proofread and formatting. 95% of the errors are from me not proofreading the hard copy before publication because I was too antsy with excitement to get it published. For this, I apologize if it has been a drag on your reading experience.
I'm presently working with Thurston Howl Publications to compile a list of typos and revisions, which involves me physically reading the hard copy and noting everything that needs fixing. Once this is complete in the next few months a second edition will be replacing the first for sale. With any luck, this will allow for easier reading.
Additionally, reading back through is also helping fuel my excitement for the sequel, which I feel like I'm slacking on in quality and submitting chapters in a timely manner. Perhaps in re-reading my work, it will provide me with the enthusiasm I feel that I'm missing for "Vengeance of Fire".

Thoughts on Dörig's character?
Posted 4 years agoHey everybody!
Just seeking some feedback on Dörig in this journal. I feel like I'm struggling to write his character because he doesn't seem like he should be so cruel and evil, being from the same bloodline as Aegerter, who is the total opposite. His wife as endured the same cruelty (though not to physical abuse Dörig took), yet she also harbors no evil feelings.
Am I going about writing his character wrong? In most of the chapters I've written about him I feel like I'm not enjoying doing so because it just seems strange to have him so wicked. That, or I feel like his past life as a loving father and husband is too polar opposite of his current personality to even physically be possible.
What do my readers think? Any input is appreciated.

The Fate of Zuria
Posted 4 years agoHello, everybody!
I know it was my goal with The Rubber Princess to portray the rubber fetish scene in a positive light that is palatable for all readers. However, for those of us more heavily invested in it, I wanted to hear your thoughts on the following concept.
As you will likely recall, Zuria was gifted her powers of rubbermancy by the forces of the underworld so that she could topple the Unifying Emperor in her first life. Perhaps out of some sense of mercy, or more out of their hope that they still saw Zuria as capable of enacting their goals of achieving total domination of the world, they gave her a second chance with a new life after the Dark Age. In this, too, she failed to Aegerter and Isarte.
So what happened to her soul? Now having failed the forces of demonic rubbermancy twice, there can be no mercy. For me, it has always a very sexy concept to involve power exchanges--sometimes permanent. To see doms/dommes fall from grace and be reduced to the roles of submissive or slave is a tantalizing idea.
So this being the case, how would everybody feel about a short side story involving Zuria's fate at the hands of her demonic overlords? Will they have their way with her for having failed them twice? Will she go from Queen of wicked rubbermancy to a humiliated rubberslave to the forces that granted her the power she dreamed of wielding?
OR, should we just let it be, and have her legacy more or less ended in the field of battle against Aegerter? I've heard many of my readers express sympathy for her character, and as such perhaps it would be the most respectful thing to do to let her be.
I look forward to hearing what you all think! :)

"Vengeance of Fire", the sequel to "The Rubber Princess!"
Posted 4 years agoHello, friends! After a short time of The Rubber Princess being up for sale, I have decided to begin writing the next adventure for Aegerter and his friends that I am titling Vengeance of Fire.
FortunataFox will be illustrating this book as well, but since this work is in its infancy I will be using placeholder artwork of Aegerter for the icons of submission titles. Rest assured, there will be artwork aplenty for this time around!
I hope I can thrill my readers as much as I have done with my first book, and I thank you for your continued support <3

Advice for Presentation of "The Rubber Princess"?
Posted 5 years agoHello,
I'm at a bit of a dilemma as far as the presentation of my book goes. While I know the furry community (and especially the rubberfur subgroup) is head over heels for it, I'm not sure how people outside of the furry and fetish community will receive it.
I have family members, friends, and work acquaintances that know I've been working on a book and that it's nearing publication. I can only surmise that at some point they are going to want to read it out of curiosity or support of me. That will lead to my fear of being teased in the workplace or belittled/put down by my family if the real subject matter comes to light; as of now all these people think I've just written a run-of-the-mill high fantasy story with animal characters, but they don't know anything about the title or the rubber-based plot.
I was already reprimanded by my family once for coming out about my rubber love, trying to be proud about my passion like so many of my friends in Europe and in bigger US cities are. I don't want it to happen again.
What should I do?

The Rubber Princess: Proofreading Complete!
Posted 5 years agoGood evening, friends!
I've just completed my proofreading of The Rubber Princess that I will send to the publicists for consideration. After having read through it, the final version is only marginally shorter, clocking in at 225,083 words as opposed to the 225,675 words of the original version. I've also made a significant change in the amount of time that spans the book. Zuria originally was alive for five-hundred thousand years under the immortality gifted by the unifying emperor. That seemed way too long when I stopped to think about it, and I changed the lifespan of the empire and of Zuria's first life to 100,000 instead. I also shrunk the length of the Dark Age to about 10,000-15,000 years and changed the year date of the book from 5005 to 3005.
Once all the art is completed I will have an easily readable PDF version in my gallery! No more having to go back and forth between chapter links in my gallery and clicking on external links to view each chapter's artwork.
Thanks again for all your support, and I will keep everybody updated on the process of publishing hard copies in the near future!

Publishers for "The Rubber Princess"?
Posted 5 years agoHello, everybody! I'm reaching out to my friends on FA to inquire about any potential self-publishing outlets that might be available for The Rubber Princess. It's now a work that I'd very much like to sell at cons and the like, and I'm open to seeking out standard self-publishers or publishers that cater specifically toward literature involving the furry fandom. Could anybody fill me in on the opportunities that are available in that regard?
I'm wanting a publisher that will be willing to use the cover design that's already been drawn and will include the illustrations at the beginning of each chapter of the book.

The Rubber Princess: Complete!
Posted 5 years agoI did it. I'm done. I'm so proud to announce that as of 12:25AM, I have officially finished my book. The grand total word count stands at 225,675 wordsâjust slightly over the longest estimate I had made.
I will be putting up a PDF version of the whole story when all the illustrations are complete, but for the time being each chapter is able to be read in my gallery by using the navigational links I have put in each chapter.
Thank you all so much for your support. In reading the last few chapters, it may be clear that I wish to potentially make a series out of this. I only feel that it's right after all the world building I've undertaken.
In the near future I will also try to begin putting out hard copies of the book for sale, and also send signed, complimentary copies to closer friends of mine (you know who you are <3).
Enjoy! And thank you, once again!

The Rubber Princess: 200,000 word checkpoint reached!
Posted 5 years agoGreetings all!
If you've been following along with the story of The Rubber Princess, then you can probably tell by now that the end is in sight! How will the quest of Aegerter, Isarte, and their friends finally conclude? Will they defeat Zuria and her rubber plague, or will Genesium and all Icasra fall prey to her onslaught?
Keep reading if you want to find out! There should only be a few more chapters left, and I am very excited to bring this work I have toiled on for over a year now to a close. PDF copies of the entire book (complete with illustrations) will be up once I've finished everything, and I am hoping to put physical copies into print in due time as well.
Sadly, I was temporarily laid off my frame shop job with Hobby Lobby until this coronavirus chaos passes. So while I wait to get my old job back, at least I have all the time in the world to finish my book :)
Thank you all who have loyally read it and kept up with the story. I hope you've enjoyed it as much as I have!

The Rubber Princess: 150,000 word checkpoint reached!
Posted 6 years agoWell, with the publishing of Chapter Twenty-Two the official word count of the book has gone beyond 150,000 words. This is way more than I had anticipated and am very excited to write more. I have an end in mind and I'm estimating it will need to be around 200,000-225,000 words to say everything else that needs to be said in order to complete the story. Then again, I don't want to get overly wordy and have things dragged out to the point where it's longer than most fantasy novels.
Anyway, thanks everybody who continues to read this story and for your unwavering support! I am really looking forward to finishing this and possibly getting it published.
On a separate note, with that in mind, do any of my friends have an suggestions as to where I could go to pursue publishing hard copies of this book? Your advice would be greatly appreciated!

The Rubber Princess: 100,000 word checkpoint reached!
Posted 6 years agoHi friends! I've officially exceeded 100,000 words for The Rubber Princess! That is well over the halfway mark that I had in mind, and I might even aim for 200,000-225,000 if things need to be extended even further.
Cheers!
