The month just FLEW by me! I aquired a pair of geckos at the beginning of the month, and wow, THAT was an adventure... got them from someone who had 0 idea what they were doing, and had to figure my own situation with them out in a short time period. Sadly, I didn't know about "good breeder practices" when I got them, so they won't be bred as they're not "breeder-quality" animals. Plus, they turned out to be both female, when one was assumed male by their previous owner lmao. My parents are getting racks set up for me since it'll cost less than buying them from someone else, but it'll be at LEAST until late winter before I look into getting any animals to breed. Just getting everything prepared for that right now. :)

Otherwise, I've signed up for a gym which I want to go to twice a week, and had an appointment with my welfare worker wherein I now have to book an appointment with an employment counselor by the 16th. :'3 But that's fine - I'm looking into a part-time job anyway, since I'll need money to support my gecko projects! That, as well as getting information on how freelancing works in my province would be swell.

I also have a LOT of projects on Second Life that I want to work on, and just finished a rather big one that I'll be posting soon! Just gotta make the advertisements and upload and all. ^^;

I'm REALLY glad that I've been able to get out and DO things on my own! It's a gigantic step up from where I was mentally!! Still not as energetic as I'd like to be, but I'll get there. c:

So, last week in my PWU (public work update), I mentioned I was looking into getting some geckos / breeding them. WELL, that weekend, lo and behold it must've been fate - because I found a male / female pair of nice morphs for sale, WITH setup, within my budget! And my mom could take me to go get them! So I did just that. XD;

Sadly, however, I've learned that they're not "breeder quality", as I don't know their bloodlines. So, I'm just keeping them until they're both healthy weights (Jax is already p fat so I'm not worried, but Ruby is skinny.) and then I'm going to rehome them with some good friends, and get myself some breeder-quality gecks.

I'm totally getting somewhat attached tho them though - especially Ruby. She's just such a sweetheart, and actually more sociable than Jax is! She'll willingly climb up on my hand and come sit and chill with me. Thankfully the friend that's interested in her is within the city so I'd be able to go visit. ^^

So - that sickness I had? It was / is mono. Which basically means it's a viral infection that takes MONTHS to recover from. The pain in my chest? Was caused from the infection irritating the cartilage in my sternum and making it swollen and inflamed. I'm still kinda sick as I write this, but not nearly as bad as I was. It'll just take longer for my body to fully fight it off.

I discussed and came to an agreement with Nat that I'll be shipping the partial unfinished, but with the materials I ordered for the arms. I'll be doing a double-sided badge for them as a refund -- unfortunately I already HAD the badge half done, but my iPad decided "fuck you" I guess and deleted it. :c So I've gotta redo that before I ship it off. I also didn't get it out as soon as I wanted for that reason, but also, y'know, being sick and all. And poor. Sick and poor, GREAT combo. I'm aiming to get it done this week since I finally got my welfare sorted out and rent paid.

I'll be doing art for my other fursuit commissioners, too... or at least for Darby. I'm not sure about Robert, since I've tried to get in contact with him multiple times and he never contacted me back. I'm not too worried since he technically already received the half he paid for, but I'll try e-mailing him soon -- I've also got to e-mail a company that I purchased something from back in June for my B-Day that hasn't gotten back to me with the status on my order. I mean, we ALREADY e-mailed them, but they haven't responded, so I'm sending it again.

Otherwise, I've just been focusing on making stuff in SL, and saving up to buy some geckos so I can start breeding 'em! I figure if I have enough SL products out I can make a BIT of income -- and if I start breeding and selling geckos, I could make a little money there, too. It's not a whole lot, but it's something. I'm also looking into making 3D figurines / YCH models for folks on commission, so that'll pop up sometime soon.

So... yeah. Getting my life back on track.

I saw the diagnostic specialists at the hospital and, as I suspected, figured out why my chest hurts:

The cartilage in / around my sternum is swollen.

They believe it's due to the infection I had / have, and I did another blood test for mono (because apparently if you catch it early it can come back negative), and two more for my kidneys and liver (which can be damaged by mono). He also insisted I do an HIV test because I'm ~~GAY~~, so I did it because, honestly, I don't remember the last time I did it and I was in no place to make a fuss or argue or call him out on "that's pretty discriminatory to assume". W/e, who cares.

I'm not sure when it'll STOP being swollen, but what I do know is there's not really anything we can do. Yet again.

But hey, at least my sinuses and throat seem to have cleared up??

I have yet to recover from the illness I caught two months ago.
Now, while my throat and sinuses aren't as bad, it's turned into an intense soreness in my chest.
Any slight movements of my ribs can cause quite a bit of pain - needless to say, it's not fun, and is absolutely preventing me from doing a lot of strenuous activities.

The doctors don't know what it is. I have an appointment with a diagnostic specialist at the hospital next friday (not this friday), so hopefully they can figure out what the heck I have. I've been tested for strep throat, gonorrhea, and mono - all which have come back negative.

If it weren't for the fact that my chest pain has been getting progressively worse, I wouldn't be so worried... but it is, and it sucks. x_x;

Because I'm nearly done what I owe & need some extra monz as a backup for a long overdue fursuit commission I gotta ship out once I'm not dying of fatigue from this mystery illness I still have. =3=

On another note, I'm considering Patreon again - more so for my Second Life work than my artwork, though, since I seem to have more interest in that than elsewhere. BUT, if you'd prefer my artwork / other 3D works on a Patreon, speak up!

What I'm thinking of doing is having a basic $1 tier that gets you a vote on what I make that month, highest vote gets worked on first. For SL things that's the only reward, but for artwork or other 3D stuff, you'd get the finished high-res files from that month, too!

To have larger influence you could pay a higher tier, and for art / other 3D things, I'd offer a tier that gives you the full-res of ALL my past (non-commercial) work. Basically, as long as I'm not currently selling merch of it, it'd be available for download.

So.. yeah. Let me know your thoughts!

On another note, THE FOOD CRISIS WAS AVERTED!! I have some commissions to work on now, but we've now stocked up on groceries! I'm so glad we have actual food now instead of just, like, cereal and bread. ;w;

My fiance hachiro_kenichi also got a new, BETTER job! Better pay, more hours, guaranteed every other Saturday off. He just put in his notice today to his old job, and starts as soon as he's outta there. Which... GOOD RIDDANCE. He's been stressed out like hell, and they've been treating him like dirt, he deserves SO MUCH BETTER. And I'm glad he's got it!

Oh. I'm also still sick. Hard to believe, but true. And it fucking sucks.
I woke up at 2am last night with my uvula / tonsils all swollen up, hard to breathe and coughing so hard I almost threw up. Went to the doctor's today to have a look at it, ask what else I can do, and get a throat swab done to try to see what's wrong so we can make SOME attempt to do something about it. She told me I'm doing everything right in way of treating the symptoms, and that they'll get the results back on Thursday, so let's hope something can be done for me!

I've taken antibiotics for 10 days, and although my fever went away, my cough, clogged sinuses, headaches, and general fatigue are still with me. The doctor thinks it's viral, and basically this means "we can't do anything except give you something to get rid of the sinus symptoms, here's a nasal spray prescription, good luck dude"

So... yeah. Those commissions I took are going to take slightly longer than usual, bc Ill probably be sleeping and otherwise fatigued a lot until I get over this.

Here's hoping what they've given me will at least let me breathe so I can sleep soundly x.x

Yes, I AM accepting 3D commissions! Currently they're only "assets" though - I don't know if I can offer a fully rigged character model, since I haven't fully figured out how to rig my own yet (mainly eyes / face is the issue). I could negotiate an unrigged model, or a partially-rigged model, but it won't by any means be cheap. The last model I did [ https://www.furaffinity.net/view/23977826/ ] took around 40 hours of work. Even though I know how to do most of the stuff now, I don't think I'll take any less than 20 hours, which would come to around $200. So y'know. Expect to pay MORE than that if you want a character model. :U

I got my antidepressants adjusted, but unfortunately, it hasn't done much for me. Had to do a blood test, too, which wasn't fun. I also ended up suddenly going to Canada's Wonderland and ConBravo, since they both fell during the weeks of my boyfriend's holidays. Oh, also - I kinda proposed to him, so he's my fiance now. That happened. :Y

I'm currently sick as fuck. I probably had the flu or something. I've been sick since the end of ConBravo, and am just BARELY recovering. Had really high fever, bad chills, sore throat, lots of phlegm, headaches... basically, not a fun time. I've been bedridden for like three or four days, only able to sit at the computer for a couple hours before having to go back to bed and pass out. I just don't have any energy, my body is allocating all of it to fighting this sickness. I may or may not recover within a week or two. It seems like the fever finally broke, so that's good I guess.

Once I'm not dying, I've got some arms to make, and then some stuff to draw and buy, and then I'm shipping off Nat's partial. Then I need to buy a new shaver so I can get to work on the other things I owe. They shouldn't be too difficult to make, so I HOPE I can get them done soon and just be over with it. I'm never taking fursuit commissions again -- I might make premades or take head / foot base commissions (since those are easy to do), but I ain't taking commissions. Furring is too much of a pain. I don't have the energy or motivation to sit around sewing shit unless it's for myself. I just don't.

I'm also HEAVILY considering going back to college, since the animation industry locally is pretty darn good, and I want to learn how to animate shit anyway. I'll have to work out how to do that, though, since it might involve the house I currently live in being sold, moving back home, or getting a loan. Idfk. I'm too sick right now to think straight.

Revive my Weasyl, FurryNetwork, SoFurry, DA, etc. I probably won't take commissions / messages through those sites, but hey, at least people will be able to see my work there!

So. That part-time job I had? I haven't been getting any hours. NONE. So it's safe to say that I'm unemployed right now.

Despite this, I chose to take a break from commissions for a while, in an attempt to get myself to finish the fursuits I owe. Unfortunately, I also got hit with the fact that my body has gotten use to my antidepressants, so I need to go to the doctor's to get my dose raised. But... because I'm now depressed to the point of being unable to do life shit on my own again, that hasn't happened yet. I'll probably get my boyfriend to arrange it for me, but... yeah. I'm kind of a mess again.

I've been slowly chipping away at the stuff I owe. I ordered the fur I needed to finish the partial, and finished the tail. The arms shouldn't take long, but I just need to... DO them. I also need to go out and purchase a new fur shaver before I can work on the other fursuits, since they require shaving.

TL;DR - I'm a depressed, unemployed boy rn. Trying to focus on fursuits, and not adding more work to my queue.

Hey all!

I've decided to close commissions for a while. The reason behind this is, while my part-time job has kind of died down, so has demand for my commissions. So, instead of worrying about how to advertise in order to get more art commissions, I'm going to put art on the backburner and focus on trying to get the fursuit commissions I still owe done and out, since I'll have the energy to work on them.

The YCHs I've posted will still be worked on if bought, and I might doodle for myself now and then, but I'm just not going to take on more art commissions right now.

I'll also probably take this time to experiment a bit with the styles I offer. I've been debating trying a simpler celshading technique, akin to what a lot of other artists offer, that would look cleaner / be faster to do. I've also got to practice with my iPad a bit more, since while I've been doing good so far with it, I could still improve.

So... yeah. If you were looking to commission me soon, sorry about that! I'll re-open once I've gotten some stuff off my plate. :)

SO! I got a new job. It's part-time, currently two days a week, working at a coffee house. HOWEVER, given my anxiety / depression, this is a HUUUUGE step for me, and is also sucking the energy out of me. I'll get use to it, and am GETTING use to it, but it's still a matter of getting home and being so tired for the rest of the week that I don't do much in way of chores / art. This shouldn't be like this forever, so I'm not too worried. It's just the first job I've really had, and I'm out of shape, and it drains me socially. I get home and just want to chill out and / or sleep. :'3

That being said, I DID get some stuff done this month, as seen! And with the job, I'll have some extra income so I won't be struggling to pay for food, new clothes I need, etc. I plan on ordering the fur I need for a commission this month, as well as buying some new chest-binders with the financial service assistance if I can get it. That, and more shirts for work, and potentially a pair of shoes, since the ones I have are... not the greatest for being on my feet all day.

I'm also keeping my fingers crossed to get an iPad Pro / Apple Pencil so I can FINALLY have a portable tablet! If I can, I'll bring it to work with me, and probably spend my time waiting for the bus / after work chilling out, drawing. Or I can go to the park with it, use it at a friend's house, use it at cons, etc. Basically, I'll be able to work on stuff WITHOUT having to be at home, meaning I'll be able to use a lot of time I couldn't otherwise for art!

Speaking of which: IT'S MY BIRTHDAY ON SUNDAY!! :D I'll be 23! Happy birthday to meeeeee. Going out to do... things. >w> Hurray!

I work Wed, Thurs, and Fri now. So. Yeaaaah. And currently I'm EXHAUSTED from only 4 hours.

IT'S ME!!
I went out for a "high tea" day for mother's day to my mother-in-law's work, which is a REALLY cute cafe down in the fabric district of our city. They seem to be fairly new, and it's a REALLY friendly atmosphere, with the employees / frequent customers pretty much like family. They stock a lot of local merchandise, including floral arrangements, paintings, photography, other teas -- and make their own teas / pastries in-house!! They even have mis-matched china cups, saucers, and teapots -- it is SO FREAKING CUTE!!!

Anyway, turns out, they need a part-time barista, and I'm family to an employee / available, and was thinking about trying to find a job anyway... SO, I'm going down to work on Wednesday. The plan right now is for me to work two days a week, which is doable, and luckily I only need to take one bus to get down there! (It's a bit of a walk to get to that one, but that's fine.) They're going to train me how to do it, and it's not a super crowded place, which is EVEN BETTER!! I'm pretty excited actually! Apparently they've been trying to figure out how to do espresso art but haven't quite gotten the hang of it, but my artsy fartsy ass is totally going to do my darndest to learn how. >:3

So, what does this mean for my artwork??
Well, depending on how things go, I may or may not be taking commissions as frequently. I was already kind of thinking about switching to either 3D modeling or fursuit making as opposed to drawing as my main form of income, but if this job works out, then I'll probably stick mainly to drawing / 3D modeling as a secondary source of income. Fursuits will remain on the backburner, and I'll likely stick to premades as budget permits as opposed to taking commissions for those. The fundraiser events will probably be cut down, since I won't really NEED the money so desperately.

So... YEAH. Idk. It's early in the morning, and I'm EXCITED!! I wanted to get this off my chest / let y'all know! @w@

I managed to replace my glasses! Which... I still owe $100 towards, lol. My mom paid for them in full since we couldn't do a payment plan, so it's not a HUGE deal... except I also had to order a new binder, and spent most of my PayPal savings on that Ubering around for friends last month, so I gotta recoup. OTL The boyfriend is broke AF rn, and we need groceries, so I might have JUST enough money to pay back my mum and get groceries for the first bit of the month. I really wish that isn't the case - I'd like to not be broke for the whole month. I'm going to make some proper advertisements for myself and hope that helps out. This is the first month in a long time I've been this strapped for cash from the get-go. @.@

Speaking of the new binder - I ordered it because I'm probably going to be waiting 2+ years to have my top surgery done. My mom said she'd buy me three more if the one I ordered fits me, which is AMAZING, but it still sucks. :c She's had to help me with clothing a lot recently... which is, y'know, great that I have that support, but at the same time... it sucks because if I DIDN'T have her buying me new clothes... I wouldn't have enough money for clothes I had recently grown out of. That's how poor I fucking am right now, and it SUCKS. I've debated getting a shitty part-time job, as much as it scares me, because I've been that fucking strapped for cash. I can't have nice things, I can't fucking afford it. ;w;

This month, a friend wants me to do a 30 day exercise challenge with him. I'm going to try - I probably won't do all of it, but I'll try. If it goes well, or if I just start gaining more stamina in general... I'm seriously debating giving up on doing drawing for a career, and switching back to fursuit making. Fursuit making is WAY more difficult... but, the payoff would be better. Better income, more demand. If I dropped drawing as a whole except for myself, and exercised more, I might be able to survive working on fursuits more often. It's either that... or maybe 3D modeling, which I've been dabbling in, too. Simply drawing doesn't seem to peak people's interest as much as it use to, so I've gotta find something that can put food on the table - or clothes in my closet!

I've also got another thing that I might be doing that could, POTENTIALLY, seriously help with my notoriety. I'm sure it'll come with some backlash, because it's media-related... but, whatever. I can handle a few online haters.

So that's where I'm at right now. Just... trying to figure out where to go from here, but at least having some ideas to try out. :'3
