What to do when someone is having a panic attack
Posted 10 years agoI wrote this out for my partner as I spend most of my time with him but ill post it here as its very valuable and people need to be open with their friends if they have mental health problems so they can be helped the best way possible
When I have a panic attack, its like a seizure, I am totally disconnected from reality, I usually cant open my eyes and I cant talk, when I try to I choke because I am breathing so fast, I'm just a crying hyperventilating ball of panic
I am writing this because I had a panic attack recently and this is everything I wanted to say but couldn't
Things that are bad (for me)
●Calling and ambo or someone else, I will eventually get exhausted and stop, saying you are calling someone or even worse having ambos rock up will not help ME at all
●Giving me any kind of medication, I cant take antidepressants as they send me suicidal, I control my depression and anxiety with mindfulness and other techniques I have learnt or taught myself (I have lived in my head for many years, I know how it works)
●Leaving me alone, I have a huge fear of abandonment, staying with me and telling me I am gonna be okay is great
●Asking me complex questions, as stated above, I am unable to talk so they should be questions that can only be answered with a nod or thumbs up and only about the situation "Do you want water" and such
Things that are good (for me)
●STAY CALM, I am very sensitive to other peoples emotions in day to day life and if you are freaking out its gonna make it worse
●Encouraging me to breathe normally and focus
●Distract me, tell me a story, ask me to imagine things, keep my brain too busy to panic
●Bring me a blanket and turn the light off, bed is safe, whenever I am upset I just want to be in my bed and hide in the covers
●Bring me a cat, or another pet that likes to be patted, animals can pick up on these things and there's nothing better than a purring cat to help you
●Grounding, tell me where I am, who you are, give me things of different textures and tell me what they are (this sounds silly but its SUPER important for me)
●Water/Food, this is also grounding, the sensation of drinking or chewing and tasting can help me snap back to reality
●Staying with me, If I look like I am asking for a hug then hug me dammit, this is also grounding that helps at any stage really, tell me its gonna be okay, rub my shoulder help me through this
All this is what helps me *personally* other people may find this not helpful
I hope none of you reading this will have to apply what you learnt but sadly some of you will, this is almost as important as knowing CPR but not many people see it that way as they have been lucky enough not to have a panic attack

My PC corrupted and I lost most of my art ive collected over the past two years or so, for the past three days ive been scouring facebook and furaffinity, my dropbox had all the ones id saved via mobile
It wouldnt of been so bad if I had it all uploaded so now I have most of it back ive put it all on my account so I can find it again (and know who drew what) I am so sorry for the spam, my new FA account has 81 new submissions and they are all mine from this account...

Posted 11 years agoA year or so ago I was on deaths doorstep
I was 10 minutes away from ending my life, walking down to the train tracks at the end of my street and jumping in front of the next train
I would of hit the electric cables first and then the train would of finished me off
But a very close friend of mine (my moirail to all you homestuckians) messaged me on facebook and convinced me to go to my psych appointment in half an hour and so I held on
I was admitted to hospital emergency immeadietly, I spent 30 hours there under the watchfull eye of the nurses, I couldnt close the curtians, the lights were so bright I couldnt sleep and they watched me pee for my own saftey.
and now it seems history is about to repeat itself, except the boot is on the other foot, or the plan is in the other persons head to be specific
his girlfriend destroyed him mentally, she made him question his own religion and controlled his life like he was a plaything and not a person, she told him they were going to have a break and then bam shes with another man, posting pictures of them together and putting it all over their tumblr, I could never imagine such a THING could exist
so now my friend has told me he has his plan to end it, ive convinced him to call lifeline and stayed up with him most of last night so he isnt alone, he is currently doing something with his dad, both his parents do not support/understand what is happening with him, but after he us done hes promised to talk to a professional. Just like I did.LETS GET DOWN TO BUSINESS~

• Where did the name of your fursona come from?
I was playing around with japanese sounds that were cute/fun, I ended up half thinking Tiko for a while then decided it was going to be i guess
• What species is your fursona and why did you choose that species?
I love cats so I thought lynx/caracal/bobcat/etc but I also love birds so that pretty much decided it for me when I realized it
• What color is your fursona and why?
I love purple, its a spiritual healing colour that I have always loved, I knew I was going to build a suit from the begining so I was smart enough to stay the hell away from white, so I went with black too c:
• What is your fursona's personality and how does this compare to your RL personality?
She is cute, funny, shy but a bit bold at times, and also proud and confident and super friendly. She also does this sexy, feminine thing that i cant work out. I find it is a "improved"? version of my personality with out many of my flaws.
• What is one item your fursona owns that is significant to you in RL?
My poor sweet pea doesnt own anything D: (yet. ill file this idea away for later)
• What is one thing your fursona would say to you if you could meet?
She would probally be too shy (me too) or be friendly (like me aha) and strike up a convo c:
• What is one thing you would say to your fursona?
Can I ruffle your feathers/can you fly with me on your back?
• How has your fursona changed over the years?
I only just found (I dont like the word "created", i like to beleive i found her within myself) her only a month and a half ago, but ive since worked out the finer details of her, and where her pattern ends and how far the purple goes down her front and back (all the way, full circle motherf**ker)
• How long have you had this fursona?
Since March 8th, I spent 5 hours solid drawing her original ref
• Would you like to be more like your fursona?
Im good at answering these ahead of the question aha, Id like to have less of my bad traits and I guess flying would be pretty neat too

Ive had a bad cold recently but im going to be well enough to go (yay willpower)
