Posted 14 years agoDo you like it? I chose it because this is how I feel a lot of the time concerning my love of animals. I'm so chill and relaxed much of the time that when someone mistreats an animal, I feel like a muzzle comes off and the teeth come out. :I
Too bad it isn't a white shepherd.. but.. black/tan shepherds are prettier anyway.
On a completely unrelated topic, I had not one, but TWO sex dreams about Daniel Tosh. WTF LOLLLL random. And he was quite large, let me tell you. :I

Alright, I admit it.
Posted 14 years agoGhost Adventures is my guilty pleasure. I loev loev loev it and I want to be a ghost hunter. I would even do the overnights, except like, I wouldn't want to be locked in like they are. And if I was locked in and something scared me/freaked me out/made me feel like I was in danger I would break a window, for realz. And I would just offer to pay for it. :x
But I still want to hunt ghosts! But the equipment is so expensive. And I don't know off hand of any places around here known for being super haunted. Galveston maybe? I'unno. I tried contacting three different ghost hunting groups in the area to see about joining but none of them have gotten back to me. Damn it.

I'm back
Posted 14 years agoBack from vacay. Not to sound insensitive to people who lost their homes in the recent floods/tornadoes but all of the rain recently in Arkansas has caused the state to bloom like crazy and make everything greener than I've ever seen it! Such lovely weather while we were there..
Eureka Springs was beautiful. It's built into the side of a mountain so all of the roads are on different levels - to get to a different street you have to go up or down a flight of steep rocky steps which kills your legs/calves but the result is so worth it. And they have some really good places to eat so it's good you get so much exercise. n.n
The ghost tour was fun, kind of cliche at times, but overall pretty interesting... the Crescent Hotel is beautiful and I wish we could've stayed there instead. ;.; We stayed at the Basin Park Hotel and the location is very convenient to most of the pertinent shops and things. It's supposedly haunted as well and while I did have uneasy feelings from time to time I didn't witness or experience anything. I did hear boards creaking but it could have been the people in the room next door as the hotel is so old.
The tour at the Crescent Hotel takes you around to different areas of the hotel where various tragedies happened, including a little girl falling to her death down a flight of stairs and cancer patients being sacrificed in the morgue by a man who claimed he was a doctor but didn't actually have a medical license. I got some pictures down in the morgue but didn't see anything and honestly didn't have any weird feeling down there either. I did get an odd feeling as I went into the men's restroom down the hallway from the morgue where people have reported seeing figures in the stalls. I figured my odd feeling was due to being in a men's rest room but Kody later confessed that he got the same feeling. I snapped three pictures of the mirror and in the first two, I see the bust of a man wearing a brimmed hat (very faintly) and in the third one I see nothing. I will upload the pictures later...
On Tuesday we packed our bags and checked out. We drove to the Promised Land Zoo just over the Arkansas/Missouri line which is a drive through zoo. We bought a 5 lb bag of feed and fed buffalo, all sorts of deer, emus, zebra and more! Very very fun :D
After that we headed down to Fayetteville and checked in to the hotel there. My mom has a friend living in town so she spent the night with her friend while Kody and I had the room to ourselves, and my mom also let us borrow the car. We spent a few hours driving around Fayetteville - it's a cute little college town with a fair amount of things to do. Nothing too spectacular though.
We woke up early Wednesday and headed on over to the university to see His Holiness the Dalai Lama speak. It was a panel discussion so overall he only got maybe 20-30 minutes of speaking time but he spoke primarily of practicing compassion towards our enemies and the poisons of anger/hatred/resentment towards others. It was a little difficult to understand him at times due to language barriers and the fact that his mic was not working all that well, but you could get the gist of what he was saying.
Also speaking were Sister Helen Prejean, author of the novel Dead Man Walking which were based on her real life experiences, and Dr Vincent Harding, who was heavily involved in the civil rights movements back in the 60's I believe... overall a very interesting panel.
We headed home after that because Kody had to work yesterday.. I would have liked to stay in Arkansas another couple of days as it seems we had so little time to do anything... but it was a fun vacation and I'd really like to give Eureka Springs another visit. :D

Is my art commissionable?
Posted 14 years agoHere is my gallery since I don't know what I would offer yet if I -did- start taking commissions. I was thinking starting off with just icons and then working my way up slowly. What do you think?
http://www.furaffinity.net/gallery/zombiepuppy/
And if I did start doing commissions, what would be a good rate to charge someone?

His Holiness will be in Arkansas next week...
Posted 14 years agoHis Holiness the Dalai Lama will be giving a few speeches at the University of Arkansas on the 11th of this month. Tickets, I believe, are sold out, but my mother managed to snag tickets for one of the morning speeches for me, Kody and herself.
We'll be heading out for Arkansas this weekend, Saturday the 7th and stop in London, AR where my aunt and uncle live to spend the night and celebrate my uncle's birthday; from there we'll be going to Eureka Springs for ghost touring and general frolicking; after that we're heading down to Fayetteville where the university is.
Kody and I began studying/practicing Buddhism about two years ago, but in the past year things have gotten hectic and we've steadily gotten away from it. I find myself easily depressed or angered as of late, and I don't want to be around even close friends. I'm preparing myself mentally to have my eyes opened again. After all, it was the Dalai Lama who got me interested in Buddhism initially, and it will be an honor and a privilege just to be in the same room as him.
We (Kody and I) have been talking about going back to meditation classes, which we used to do every Wednesday. Believe it or not there is a local temple out here where we met some nice people and the monks are so great too--always giving us food and gifts just because.
The other night I was talking over the internet with a monk who used to reside at the temple. He's a young monk and actually went to high school with Kody. Although he now lives in St. Petersburg just talking to him again reminded me of how beneficial it is to meditate and practice metta (loving kindness) on a regular basis. I don't know why but just talking to a monk, even digitally, seems to be peaceful and calming to one's mind.
I find myself always angry with people or worried about this or that. I try to meditate at home but it just isn't the same. Sumedho (the young monk mentioned above) pointed out that having a good environment to meditate in is one of the keys to good meditation, and I think he's right. Our apartment is small and cluttered and there's always someone around you making noise; it makes it very hard to meditate properly. I think regular visits to class again and visiting His Holiness is going to help me a lot as far as that is concerned. I certainly hope so anyway! :I
When I get back from Arkansas I will let you all know how the trip was! I'm excited to say the least for this rare and wonderful oppurtunity! :)

My dreams...
Posted 14 years agoIn case you haven't noticed, I love dogs.
I'm also stuck in a rut. I have no life, no special skills or training, and I didn't even go to high school. (This is not something I'm proud to admit so please don't focus on it. It's a mistake and I realize that now. Thanks.)
....I have big dreams. :c
First, I want to sign up for The Karen Pryor Academy to become a dog trainer. I've thought long and hard on the subject and dog training is something I could see myself doing if I could just get over my fear of being frank/honest with people.
But standard tuition is $5300 which I don't see myself EVER possessing in this lifetime or the next. You also have the option of paying 4 $1400 payments which would run the tuition up to $5600. That is the option I would most likely go with as $1400 up front is WAY more obtainable than $5300, even for me (who is always broke). But even $1400 is a stretch.
However, my dreams don't stop there, oh no. With the money I make from dog training, I want to take that and open a pet resort/dog boarding kennel. I would just start off small at first. Maybe like 20 kennels overall. And a small area for cats.
And on top of THAT I want to run a dog rescue. I know, I know, now before you tell me that I'd be up to my eyeballs in rescued dogs, it isn't something that I would openly advertise. It's just one of those things that if I, say, found a stray or injured dog, I'd take them in and try to find their owner or rehome them. Somehow I'd have to keep them separate from client dogs until I've confirmed they are healthy enough to bring around other dogs. As to where I would put them I don't know yet. These are all details I haven't yet worked out.
I don't know what to do. I want to do all of this while I'm still young and hopeful, but I can't stand working a normal job and therefor have been unable to save up money. I guess I just need to keep looking until I can find a job I can stand, or something.
*sigh*

Serial fave-ers.
Posted 14 years agoDon't get me wrong... I LOVE the badge Chival made for me and it's like 10,000 times better than anything I could ever create. I don't blame people for wanting to fave it.
But when people come to my page and don't fave anything I've created but fave my ID badge which was NOT created by me, it's kind of insulting.
So I added a link to the original version so that if people want to fave the beautiful badge she created me, I won't have to know. As they say, ignorance is bliss.
Again, not saying that my art is better than Chiv's (not even close). Just saying.
SO SERIOUSLY. Unless you're going to fave something I created, don't fave the badge over here anymore. In fact, here is the link again, just in case: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/5482171
Thanks.

Personal messengers?
Posted 14 years agoI want to take a vote. Which personal messenger do you use the most often and why?
(ie. yahoo, AIM, MSN, skype etc...)
Whichever one gets the most votes, I will download so that I can start keeping in touch with people again. :3

Animal Cops Houston
Posted 14 years agoMy sister saw a guy hit a dog with his truck and didn't even stop to check if the dog was okay. So she called the Houston SPCA and they came out with a TV film crew from Animal Planet and...well, she may be on TV. :D
I don't know when the episodes will be airing though. :I

Request Update
Posted 14 years agoSorry about taking so long guys - work keeps calling me in for days I would normally have off. :I
I don't want to set a time or date when they'll be done because I feel bad when I don't get them done before said time. So I'll get them done as quickly as possible. :)
