Feels like the start of a new chapter
Posted 7 years agoHey all,
Been out of practice for a long time. Serious Situations and probably turning 35 have forced me to re-evaluate what I want out of life. I'm still in the process of figuring out but somethings definitely on horizon. So for now I'm exploring on the side again, mostly starting up work on animations. So I'll be still trying to get Commissions but also learning I need to branch out. As posting to FA, I still love to and will but it seems like other platforms like twitter and tumblr are a bit more conducive for this medium.

Will see were things in life lead from here :)

I otter do it - also COMMISSIONS OPEN!#
Posted 10 years agoSlowly getting back to arting has made me aware of what art muscles have atrophied but this year I'm filled with a resolve to practice those muscles back into action. Life is good and things seem steady so now would be the time to do it.
With that I'll be opening for commissions again though with slots limited to 3 to better ease back into it and i still have my day job to think of :) .
More details on my commission info page.

Ebb and flow baby, ebb and flow...
Posted 10 years agoIt's been a long time since being from the fandom. A mixed bag of career, people and over events made it cool down for over the past 4 years...
Now it seems to be coming back, since moving to Canada for work and having to make friends in the fandom again in a whole new place has done a bit to clear the stagnation. Ramping up, the tipping point I think was going to the local con up here, Fur-Eh. I've not felt that much fun at a con in a loooong time.
Also my work now allows me to be artistic as well as logical and pragmatic. Breaking free I've slowly been able to dip back into art, it's been a slow build but I'm enjoying arting again. Going beyond just digital I'm looking into how to build my own fursuit.
I hope it's not too much too soon but I'd like to ride this crest as far as I can.

Rocket Weasel Launches!!
Posted 13 years ago Hey there guys, I know it's been about a year that since I've kinda dropped a lot of activity but it was to start work on a game based around an idea I've had since school so of course it involves cute animals. :P It's been a long year but good, a really good artist was brought in and found far more rewarding time in programming and technical art so this is my first game entirely in that. Got some updates only the way some for content and some for fixes but it makes for steady work.
Thanks to current commissioners for your patience and any recent watchers, thank you!

Undead Update
Posted 15 years ago Blarrrrg to you out there.
This past couple months have been crazy, from moving to some pretty steep changes in daily life like no more cigs, biking to work instead of driving & cooking at home instead of fast-food. These are all definitely good changes (especially cooking, why didn't anyone tell me you can make delicious food without having to order it?) just caused a bit of chaos on life schedule which has been finally getting back to equallibrium in the past month.
Newly employed with Freeze Tag studios, with 2 games out so far as I wade into the industry, I've been trying my hand at programming to couple with the art assets I can make, though it'll be a slow climb to take the time to learn to program. I figure if I do that I can maybe put out a stupid-simple casual game, I'm already thinking something that involved feeding otters.
Still working commissions but because of all the change I've still been a little slower than I'd like to finish them but they're getting done.

Taking Commissions, and other stuff that is going on.
Posted 15 years ago Now that things are settling down after the move and other stuff going on just wanted to say that commissions are currently open, info is here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1211064/
As for moving, well nearly finished there still seem to be some extra boxes in this final stage but it's nice having a bit of a bigger place been mostly busy with crunches for work.
Been working with GoPlay, our first title Aero GP is finished and up on the itunes store http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/aero.....382529556?mt=8 only a dollar if you have an iphone or itouch if you like racing games more specifically airplane :) Got 2 other projects currently in the middle of and at least one of them zombies, so glad only 3 games into the industry and already get to do zombehs! Will post more work for that as time goes on.

Back to the Fut... *ahem* er ...real world
Posted 15 years ago Thanks to everyone for the congratulations and support after for graduation! Now that the port show is over it's been a big weight off of my shoulders but not time to rest up yet, time for the real world and making sure there'll be income... well, coming :3 .
So far the big push of the game has been done and as I understand it should be getting ready for approval from the client and the off to apple for approval from them >.< . Luckily it looks like there should be paying gigs coming up after that which will be nice because I can finally leave the hotel and work full time on my career.
Also now with the added free time I can really dive back into commissions, if you're interested check out my commission info here http://www.furaffinity.net/journal/1211064/

pandraGreenlit To Graduate!!
Posted 15 years ago It's been 4 years or so but I got the final word today that I've graduated. I can't remember the time I've fought for something like that for a long time, inbetween work and school especially the last couple quarters. I'm glad I did it but more glad it's over :3
You can check the portfolio here, www.dplunkett3d.com
To all those that were patient waiting for me to get done and understanding when I couldn't be super social, thank you. I'm sure hoping to be able to catch up with a lot of people now that I'll have more free-time.
To commissioners, I'm definitely getting back to work soon aside from a slight delay until the portfolio show and everything else is over this week.

pandraI may be undead but not dead
Posted 15 years ago I wanted to wait until I actually had something substantial to show in art or game announcements but unfortunately doesn't look like that. This message is to more or less show that I am not dead but just in hiding :D Figured at least put out a journal covering progress in work, commisshies and life, but not necessarily in that order.
So far in life thing are looking good for me and my roomies after getting over the financial hump of last year as I figure everyone else was or is going through. If you haven't already seen the post here http://www.furaffinity.net/view/3380834 My hubby Rocko and I officially tied the knot (wow, just imagine how many had a dirty thought there) on the 1st of February though it would have been sooner but we had to wait for our certificate to come back in and that 's the official date on it. We still haven't had any sort of ceremony or party but we figure that can wait a month or so until schedules clear up, we know we love each other very much, any sort of party would be more to celebrate with friends and such.
For commissions, I'm sorry I've been lagging so badly my schedule has been stretched it's limits, I'd welcome the chance to just do some straight up drawing or painting for commissioning since it's very relaxing but I just need to grit my teeth and get through this last half of my last quarter. I have your places and will place the queue at the end of the post, if you're up soon and are having funds hard to come by please pm and I'm sure we can work something out. Once I start getting more time opening I definitely plan to continue doing commisshes and such and get that damned locker-roos story back and running considering there's so many other bad things I've planned for that bunny :D.
School is nearly over (only 6 more weeks if I pass XD) and my job at GoPlay Games (www.goplaygames.net) seems to be going well we're wrapping up production on my first game with them. I'm done with all asset creation, now it's up to the programmer to finish twinning all together and then for us to test it, it should be a week or so before it's off to apple to approve. Can't say much else about the title other than it's an airplane game, until we get the final go ahead from our clients. But I do know I'll be back on my journal to plug it pretty hard when it comes out :D
The best news with GoPlay is that we've already got two new clients that may want to work with us, we just need to make sure our concept docs we're sending back are enough to make them bite, we'll finally have enough funds to get salary, benefits and an office while working. So definitely keeping our fingers crossed there.
GoPlay is also going to be going to GDC in San Francisco this march, not their first year there but definitely mine, luckily years of con-going has in someway prepared me for this monstrous meeting of people. It'll be nice since my first year wont be one looking for a job but going with a company, still much to do there but at least the stress of finding a job atm is not there this time.
So all in all a nice change of gears if things are going well, if GoPlay lands these contracts I can finally leave the hotel and, omg, have my weekends back, and soon after be done with school meaning having me evenings back. It's been a 4 years of waiting and lots little stories in-between, but in the end I'm just really fuckin' excited to be working and getting paid to do art, something I though nigh impossible 4 years ago, so thank you to all that encouraged me on my art here over the years and keeping me at it! If you and I've made plans to hang out, play some games or eat and I've been slow to get to do it, trust me I'll finally be having time again to do so XD

on inked*, painterly**, full body, partial or just the head, background or no.
Animated icons, in addition to the aforementioned criteria, the price the will be
negotiated based on frame rate, the number of frames, and amount of things
being animated as well as the previously mentioned variables.

of lanyard or badge clip, simple or no background (i.e. simple gradient or
forms of no more that 2 colors), and FREE SHIPPING.
Color Print - $40 - One character, inked*, digitally painted, simple or no background
(i.e. simple gradient or forms of no more that 2 colors).
+ $15 - Optional, add background, added to base price.
+ $15 - Optional, per extra character.
+$5 - Optional, for prints only, have a 8.5x11*** printed version (your choice
of photo matte or photo gloss) shipped to your doorstep instead of just
the digital copy by email.
-Prices for pencil sketching or just inking upon request.
-Once a commission and price is agreed upon the price is locked for the specified
commission.
-Menu prices may be subject to change overtime depending on work load.
*inked = standard way of setting up the line work
**Painterly = no inking, the reason it ends up costing more is because of the
added time to make sure the coloring job reads well without an outline. More
recent technique I've been working on though I'm definitely liking the result
more than inking. Since it's kinda new I'm not sure how many have seen it. This is
<a href="http://www.furaffinity.net/view/309.....;>painterly w/out inking</a> and <a href="http://www.furaffinity.net/view/320.....;>painterly with inking</a> The fur texture styling will be the same for both ink and paint.
***Larger or smaller sizes may be discussed

Well, visions of having an uninterrupted block of time to work and the game and portfolio have been kinda screwed up by real life stuffs like the bothersome need for continual food and shelter and hotel job madly cutting back hours >.< . Cut back hours are nice for the time it allots me to work on things but also means I need generate some separate income.
I know this ended up happening earlier than expected but as of now I am re-opening for commissions.

Schedule Forecast: I will still need to keep a large portion of the focus on the game and with school but that's only because there's so much at stake with those. My boss's and lead's first impression of what kind of worker I am for the possibility to work on future games and with one and a half quarters left in school, I really don't want to pay for more classes beyond that.
Planned Attack: Despite all that, I'm definitely going to do my best to stay on schedule with the commissions. The past couple of weeks I've been starting to do some more painting again and it's provided a nice break working the game where I can still feel productive. So I'll be able to work on a bit a day but at least still be keep at it steadily.
Queue Priority: Priority in the queue, after those that are already on the list, will be based upon the time stamp on the pm or email that contains the requester agreeing to the commission.
The updated queue will be posted at the end of the week to allow those who wanted to commission while they were closed to try to get in.
If you contacted me about commissions while I was closed: If you would still like to commission, contact me before the end of the week and you'll get first priority on the queue after those that are already on it. If more than one person, that have each contacted me while I was closed, contact me before 12-4-09 @ 12:00am pacific then their priority will be based upon the time stamps of their pm's with the original request. After the deadline, all requests will be given priority as stated above in 'Queue Priority'.
Past commissioners that haven't yet received everything from me: For all else whom I still need to mail your prints and badges I know who you are and I'm reeeally sorry that I haven't yet and still plan to do so. For a while now time has been so short, though I know that's not really a good excuse, next break that I get I definitely plan to get caught up on those.
Payment: I don't accept payment until you are at the front of the queue but if you want to wait until you can see a WIP then I can email a smaller, watermarked WIP. If you want to wait until to see the finished product before paying I'll send a smaller watermarked final version. The final product will not be emailed or posted until the whole amount of the payment has been made.
Blech, I know that was a lot but I just wanted to make sure all bases were covered.

Good news & Bad news, funny how it usually comes paired. :3
Posted 16 years ago Hey there, I figured it would be best to post this to a journal since I'm still getting messages about it, which is definitely not a bad thing though :D.
For the bad news, since it's usually best to place that first. I will be closing commissions as of now, my last commission will be posted in a couple days. This won't be forever but I'm in the last 2 quarters of school, about 22 weeks. Everything is for the portfolio at this moment and other projects I'll explain in a bit. I've told those that have commissioned me recently and if you have commissioned me and have not received a pm, please let me know. I'll hold the spots in the queue but won't take any commissions or payment until then. I'm sorry for the inconvenience this may cause. Of course if I hit a hard spot and lose my job or something and need the cash I'll start back up but this is the plan.
And for the good news, and the other reason I'm going to be short on time. I recently got my first game job as a 3D artist for GoPlay games, a small iphone game company, the game we're currently working on is due in December so it will be a pretty busy run until then. I'm really excited to see where this will go, especially for games afterwards, since more furries in the industry mean more furry or at least partially furry games XD
Current queue to be held:

Finicky Requesters WTF?!!
Posted 16 years ago This rant is brought to you today by a conversation my mate
rocko and I
He was given an art request, 3 pics inked, I won't say what type or who did the requesting because that's not the point. He's a a real sweetheart so he ended up doing it for him finishing them last night. One would think that it was a done deal, but the requester posted about how he wanted them drawn up differently, suggesting details he would want the most post-production. These suggestions weren't even brought up when the piece was initially requested. I know this may sound like a small thing but for an artist to do a request for someone he doesn't know especially 3 pages of it, that's time and effort spent already. The best thing to do for the requester is to accept it with gratitude because the artist never had to do it in the first place.
Normally, I don't even do request because I'm busy with school and other projects and time is money to me (not trying to be an asshole, but I feel commissioner pay not only for the art but for the time spent making it) though if the idea interests me I'll consider it.
This is not even a slam at requesters but as the topic title states the finicky ones, a request is just that, a request. I doesn't need to be fulfilled, or amazingly executed unless the artist deems so and if the artist does it, just be grateful of this gift horse... not in the mouth looking :3

Posted 17 years agoOpen commissions for FC badges start now :3 Normally $5 for inked $10 for color by marker during the con, any badge orders put in before FC starts (before Jan 22) and I can have them colored with photoshop instead still for $10 (tough to do on the go at a con, needing lappy and tablet >.<)
