This is how the adoptable system works:

See a character you like? Check to see if nobody has claimed him yet, and if he's still available, take him for yourself!

All you gotta do to take him is tell me that you want him (comments only, private notes mess the whole system up), I'll confirm, and then I'll send you the hi-rez image of your new character!

After claiming, that character becomes yours, fully. Change her name, swap his gender, edit her design, write a New York Times Bestselling Novel starring him and make millions of dollars, I DON'T CARE. Do whatever you please. c: I'm just here to have fun making critters, seriously -- I'm not going to be a control freak over how you use them.

The only thing you can't do is resell them. But you're free to give them away to friends and such.
