Markings: Solid red with a green apple sliced in half as a cutie mark on both sides, yellow/blonde mane and tail, 3 white spots near both eyes, and tan hooves.

Big Macintosh is the older brother of Applejack and Apple Bloom and a member of the Apple Pony Family, always seen wearing a hitching collar and chewing on a stalk of wheat. He has a rather calm and easy-going demeanor to contrast with his sister Applejack's more stubborn attitude. His appearance matches his demeanor: his eyes are generally half closed and he looks slightly bored, as though he's simply accepting what's happening around him. He resembles a Clydesdale horse, as do most of the male ponies, but is considerably larger than the others.
