Why do bad things always happen at this time of year? The whole gammut from the down right annoying such as the TV failing and the spa leaking... to road accidents and car fatalities.

I discovered on Saturday morning that a friend of mine died in a head on collision. He was about 25. His girlfriend and the other driver suffered serious injuries. I believe he died on impact. Certainly at the scene. The details are still filtering through.

It wasn't his fault. A ute clipped a Toyota Echo while travelling at high speed, trying to overtake. This caused it to lose control and fishtail. It eventually ended up crossing the dividing line and my friend's little Ford Focus was the car to end up in it's way.

He was quite far from where he lived. I don't know why, he didn't really like to leave the area, not from fear of driving, but just because he didn't like to drive far.

Please everyone, whatever you are doing this holiday season can't be that important. Please don't speed. Please be careful.
