Moskau Project
I've been thinking a lot about this lately. I still would like to finish it, but I've run into a problem. This project started with Tom back in 2010 and I liked his so much I turned it into portraits of all my main crew people. Some of them held up okay, but some of them...not so much. This project is almost 10 years old. My drawing style and skill have changed since then, I also added a bunch of new characters. I am considering starting over, or at least redoing the ones I'm not happy with anymore. I'm still figuring out character traits for everyone. That's the problem with having a lot of characters. (And being a writer)
Anyway, I digress. I really want to finish this project, even with having nearly 20 portraits to do. I want to get back into drawing more regularly again because I really miss it. I might take a break from fursuit making for myself (minus a commission I have lined up) and focus on art for a little while. There are still some things I'd like to get better at, such as drawing humanoid characters and posing. I've been having trouble with art turning out the way I wanted it to and having the motivation to even do it in the first place, but I think I burnt myself out on fursuit making and want to switch back to art for a bit. I've been having inspiration and motivation to draw again and I'd like to seize it. I just hope that the Moskau Project doesn't give me burnout too. At the very least I want to draw more art of my crew and “Experimental” story characters. Possibly give some characters an update/makeover. Work on character designs and personalities. I enjoy making characters and telling stories. Ever since I started working and got my first job 10 years ago my creative side has been diluted. I miss spending all day making art and talking with my two best friends, Will and Nathalie. Those where good days.
I don't want to jump the shark and say “I'm going to start drawing more” because every time I do it never happens. I don't want to be full of false hope so I'll just say I'd LIKE to draw more, but I can however say that I WILL finish the Moskau project.
Because of the fact that I don't draw and write like I used to, my hands cramp really bad after 10 minutes. I've tried stretching, and often might I add and I still get hand cramps. Maybe my endurance is just down because I'm not used to doing it often. Maybe I just have to tough it out and work trough it slowly. Honestly besides lack of time/energy/motivation, that is the main reason why I don't draw like I used to. Pain. I have no excuse for not writing my story though. I can type faster than I ever could 10 years ago and my story telling has improved. I see it as I've taken the last decade to focus my sewing/crafting/costume making skills and observing daily life, working on character development and ideas for my story. Sometimes you just have to take a break by learning and observing. Do some people watching, its both entertaining and a learning experience. Also I've been figuring out how to adult.
Anywho, I hope I can make this work. I feel like I've leveled up enough to carry on and advance more. We shall see what the future holds for me. I still want to make fursuits and things but I think I just need a break for a while. Burnout is serious.
