... No Justice At All (G)
I walk into college, looking up at the familiar building, I sigh and enter. Everything is going well, we get assigned to do a number of fun, exciting tasks. Such as filming a multi-camera production, and creating a filming a music video, well... That's all to come.
I have to say I'm not sure where college is actually going to take me. Am I going to wind up in university, or will I just start working on something else that's completely unrelated, thus wasting two years of my life? I don't know, I don't really know what I want in terms of career or education.
Luckily for me, studying media is an extremely wide subject, and can lead off in a huge cluster of different paths, thus, it probably won't be a waste of time. But not the best use of it... Nevertheless, I've enjoyed college so far, so... I guess if I enjoyed it, it's not a bad use of my time. Just not practical, not to say that media is useless for me. No no, I'm still unsure of what I want, so media could end up being exactly what I need when I come to whatever lies ahead.
The title of this post is a play on words, Metallica's song '... And Justice for All', rephrased. Because this journal is also a rant, (No journal isn't a rant), and it's a rant at my less-than-professional media lecturer.
I've got a reasonably close friend at college, we've made each other laugh and we generally help each other get through boring days. But, you see... My media lecturer has 'favourites' in our class. He'll only really focus on teaching, helping and catering to their needs. And no one elses.
If I come in late to a lesson, it's a big deal.
If one of the lecturer's 'favourites' comes in late. He doesn't even notice that it happened.
Last friday (10th Oct), he walked into the lesson, checked on his 'favourites', gave them some pointers, then pissed off out the room and I didn't see him again for the rest of the day... Not only that, but he's decided to be unnessersarily harsh to me and my college-friend, by being particularly sarcastic and generally rude towards us.
What was my reaction? My first reaction was to complain, I complained to everyone that could care to listen, and most of them agreed, because they too, had realised that the lecturer had been neglecting most of the class. What did I do? I did what I could do... I worked, I proved to this, stupid, ignorant lecturer that I am fucking-magnificent at this subject and he better damn realise it. So I conjured a beautiful 20-second animation to go at the beginning of our multi-camera show. He was more than impressed, and then actually became expectant of me to finish the full title-sequence on my lonesome, a job for 7 people, who were in my group, and couldn't care less. I completed the work.. Just in time for the deadline. I had completed more work than anyone in the entire department, 4 assignments in one day, and one of those was a group task, that I completed myself. I must say I'm proud of that feat, I just don't want to have to do it again. Just to earn a little respect.
The lesson for this week?
Go above and beyond the Call of Duty to get any actual attention from lecturers.
Show extreme (fake) enthusiasm for the Media course, or recieve instantaneous embarrasment and down-tones.
Media is fun, but it's not all that interesting or exciting anymore.
Beat lecturers at their own game. Teach them a thing or two and they'll give me the respect I should be getting, instead of sarcasm and shittyness.
This is a more personal journal... It's my thoughts on the last week as far as college goes. Everything in this journal is exactly how I feel about college and my "future-situation".
(I'm not depressed about the above, I'm actually quite happy about it all, it's an obstacle that I've overcome, and I'm happy to have proven myself... If that makes sense. bring on the next challenge!... But be gentle this time around).
I hope you've enjoyed reading this little mini-auto-biography, it's definitely not the end of this story..
On a brighter side, this month is gunna be quite a fun one, out of college..
I got a gig to go to on the 17th of October(Next Weekend), in Brighton, Alestorm and Sabaton are playing at Concorde 2. I'll be there.
I'm also almost jumping up and down with excitement about another thing and I can't wait for it!
Signing out,
As you were.

Too Long Didn't Read:
I'm not sure where my future is going.
My lecturer trolled me.
I trolled him with superior work, and knowing more than him about animation.
I earned freedom from sarky remarks for another week or so.
