Commission information (Feedback wanted!) (G)
Hello!
I'm currently working on my pricing model for commissions, and I’ve come up with a method that I think sounds pretty good. However, I’d still love to hear your feedback.
What I have in mind is moving away from the traditional pricing method of charging per character and background. Instead, I’ll be switching to a model based on the estimated time spent creating the commission.
For example, charging for two characters in a commission doesn’t always feel fair—especially if the second character is mostly hidden behind the other. Sometimes a client may also request something very specific that’s difficult to fit into a standard category. Maybe you want three-quarters of a character along with multiple panels full of detail—how would I price that?
That’s why I think this new method might work much better. Instead, you can request a quote by describing the specific commission you want, and I’ll estimate how long it will take and price it based on that time. For example, a full-body illustration typically takes around 4 hours, which would cost 90€. Based on that, I can calculate the price of your commission.
This approach also allows you to commission whatever you want—there are no strict categories. You’re not limited to “full body” or “half body” options. It can be anything you have in mind. You’ll only pay for the estimated time it takes to complete your commission, at a rate of 22.5€ per hour.
For example, if your commission is estimated to take 6 hours, the total cost would be 135€. Even if it ends up taking a bit longer, you won’t be charged extra. The quoted price is final—nothing more, nothing less.
Also, requesting a quote is completely free. An invoice will be sent once I accept your commission, and you’ll have 30 days to complete the payment.
During the process, I’ll stay in touch with you, providing updates and feedback. You’re also welcome to take part in the creation process.
You can request changes during the sketching phase, but once I move past that stage, no further changes can be made.
So what do you guys think? I personally think this will work much better.
