Oh it's my first time ever writing a journal! ^_^

So, I had an enquiry come through to Fursites regarding how UK law and other age verification laws will be handled for people getting a Fursite.
This is such a great question, I thought I'd share my plans and see what y'all think!

Firstly, Fursites is UK-based, however, I am selling my services for content creators and artists to have a Furry Website of their own - A safer alternative to things like Subscribe Star. This means that the Fursite I create for them will likely be bound by the law of the country they reside in.

However, age verification can still be a feature for any Fursite, and also if the owner of the Fursite resides in the UK, they will have to abide by the UK Laws.

So, in the case where a Fursite does have Age Verification, I will handle it how some Furry Conventions do. A valid photo ID will need to be provided, but only the Name, Date of Birth and Expiry Date of the ID needs to be visible - the rest can be blurred or blanked at your discretion. This photo ID will be requested through a secure, encrypted channel (such as Telegram) and your Subscription to the Fursite will be limited until verification is complete. That photo ID will come through to me, the Fursite Owner, or to both. It will NOT go anywhere else. This will then be stored on an external drive that will only be connected to the computer when transferring these files to the drive itself. This external drive will be kept safe, used only for this purpose, and the file will be deleted upon account deletion. Your information will not be shared with anyone! After either the Fursite Owner or I have checked the ID, you will be granted full access to your Fursite Subscription, provided you are over the age of 18.

I don't feel there is anything wrong with doing due diligence. I feel the issue is more how these things are handled, and I want to ensure I am doing everything I can to not only be compliant with the law but also to protect this community and its interests. I would recommend each Fursite has age verification as standard, but it may not be necessary to comply with your country's law.

Please, by all means, if you have any suggestions, thoughts, or ideas as to how you would prefer this to be handled, I am always open to discussing. The point is that we all get a voice and when it comes to your security and privacy, it needs to be handled with consideration and care!
