Hello all and welcome to the Faidrinian/ Species of Fydrus page ^.^
So for this Journal, lets go into some lore for our species, lore on the planet Fydrus, Faidrinian Biome Types, a little into Fydric (for some words) and some mention of other species (not full details yet). This journal is gonna be pretty lengthy, so for that sake, everything will be split based on subject. So onto our first topic, Faidrinian Lore ^.^
First before we get into things Faidrinians are an open species and all different versions and variants and such are welcome, as long as it follows some basic guidelines (which will be explained >.<)
So to start, Faidrinians actually were an idea that I thought about back in 2018-ish when I pictured this species made of goo that lived on an alien world and I kinda had some inspiration from Halo as well as another species known as the ERO from
. However, I wanted to steer my own way with my species and I didn't want to copy their species. So I went with what I was very interested in at the time which was floral creatures and wasps and tried to mix them together along with the gooey space snake and thus the idea for them "blossomed." (I know that was bad x3). Next I started envisioning this planet of vast complexity and full of vibrant landscapes (but we'll get to that x3). So for the 1st Faidrinian type, I went with arctic because of my love for the cold and thought it would be a good place to start. I also created the 1st faidrinian to have a nose like that of an airplane, as I also love airplanes. Then as I was designing it, I had the idea to say "what if the maw wasn't actually in the snout but rather the tail?" And so, the tailmaw idea stuck and felt right with such an alien species. This is the lore on how I came up with them, but how about some lore into the species themselves? That's next ^.^
Faidrinians are the main species of the planet "Fydrus" and are a symbiotic lifeform meant to have a host. They live off of as a hive but all have their own personalities and such. Faidrinians are meant to be a highly intelligent species as they can do basic problem solving, use telepathy to speak to one another, can translate their thoughts to their hosts native language(s) and have even created their own versions of written languages known as Fydric and Faidra-Script. Primarily, Faidrinians use Fydric when writing but royalty use Faidra-Script when writing up certain documentation. This of course is then translated to Fydric so that all can read the documentation the royalty has created, as to stop any confusion. More into the species themselves however, the average lifespan of a faidrinian has not been determined as they can live indefinitely so long as they are given proper nutrition and they shed any excess biomatter known as "crystal scaling". This is created from dead tissue that a faidrinian will create and secrete from their gooey skin that crystalizes. This usually only happens once a year or so as their waste production is very minimal. However, faidrinians have been known to crystalize completely resulting in death, this usually happens in the "Kare Desert" ("Kare" or KAH-RAY means death, so the "desert of Death"). When this unfortunate event happens, the only way to "revive" the dead faidrinian would be for a mage to use time reversal magic on it, but usually they are left to rest as crystalized statues in the Kare Desert out of respect. Anywho, another thing about Faidrinians is that a young faidrinian is known as a "faidrinian pup."
Now onto the biome types since we're on the topic of faidrinians. The first will be of course, the Arctic ^.^:
The Arctic type Faidrinian is the most common of the types on the planet of Fydrus and are known for their average size horn and cold colors. Typically an arctic type has white, icy white, icy blue, light blue, royal blue, light seafoam green, teal or a light blue as their primary top color. The stripe can be a light blue, royal blue, darker blue, light seafoam green, teal, cyan or in some cases icy blue. The underside is usually the darkest color in their palette, being a dark grey, black or a dark ocean blue. They Reside on the massive icefields of Fydrus'es northern circlet and pole
The second type will be the Temperate/Forest type, a common type on the planet Fydrus. These ones are known for their distinctive colors and the ear fluffs on the tops of their ears. Their color scheme meant to usually have a green, brown or a mid-range blue for their primary color. For their stripe, usually a green, teal or brown of sorts and for their secondary or underside, a brown, blue, teal, spring green or a mid-range to darker blue (depending on the environment). These are the 2nd most common on Fydrus and reside in the forests and plains south of the North Boreal barrier forest and east of the "Faidric Drolu ("Drolu" or DROE-LUE means demon) Swamp."
The third type is the Tropical/Rainforest type, another common type on Fydrus. These ones are known for their vibrant reds, greens, yellows and oranges meant to ward off predators warning them that they are poisonous. While these are common, it is rare to see one in the wild as they tend to hide within the "Fydric Rainforest" far south of the "Faidric Drolu Swamp" and tend to stay closer to their hives. One distinct attribute of them is their smaller size and larger ears. They're smaller to hide in the brush and their large ears are meant to be able to pick up on sounds from miles away. While they seem more cautious, they're still as friendly as their neighbors to the north and aren't actually poisonous. It's more about the illusion of poison with them.
The fourth type is the Boreal/Northern Boreal type. These are known for their seafoam greens, blue greens, spruce browns, darker browns, jade greens and teals. One thing that distinguishes them is their branch shaped horns and their head and snout is more narrowed and wolf-like. As their name implies, they're found in the "Northern Boreal Barrier Forest" south of the arctic circlet and pole and just north of the "Faidric Drolu Swamp" and the temperate forests and plains of Fydrus. They're another common type amongst the biome types.
The Fifth type is the Mountain type. These are known for their curled horns and drill-shaped snouts. Their horns are meant for bashing rocks, trees and brush and their snout is meant for digging through rocks and soil. These are also very distinct in that they're the 2nd biggest of the biome types and are referred to as "the giant Fydric mountain Faidrinians." Their color scheme is usually lavenders, light purples, dark forest greens, mid-range but faded blues, brass and gold colors. The reside in the beautiful "Golden Fydric Mountain Range" and their primary hive is within the tallest mountain on Fydrus known also as "Mount. Fydrus" and stretching a staggering 97,000 ft into the atmosphere.
The Sixth type is the Antarctic type. These ones are known for their smaller horns, fins and larger ears. Antarctic use their fins to swim in the Fydric Antarctic sea, west of their main hive or in Lake Garvyn on the land of Garvyn (not to be mistaken with Melay Garvyn). Their color scheme is mostly greys, light blues, salmon colors, pinks, subdued orange colors, icy whites and white. They reside on the Northern Antarctic Icefields and parts of Garvyn including the island within lake Garvyn and the southern most pole of Fydrus. These are common but are the least of the common types, bordering on the uncommon category.
The Seventh type is the Wetland type. These ones are known for their spiky appearance, small alligator like tail, leaf shaped ears and are referred to as the "alligator Faidrinian." Their colors usually are forest greens, dark forest greens, olive greens and green-ish browns. Their horns are meant to look like a piece of a tree, yet is sharp at the tip. However, this is all for looks so they can scare off predators and blend in. These Faidrinians reside in the "Faidric Drolu Swamp" along side the "Faidric Drolus", a tribal species which hunts down faidrinians as they view them as dangerous and as the demons. They are one of the uncommon types as they reside in an inhospitable landscape with species that would harm them.
The Eighth type is the Oasis type. These ones are known for their "Khopesh" or even snake like horns and all of them have different markings around their eyes. Their color scheme is mainly seafoam greens, blue greens, sand colors, purples, black, gold colors and lapis blues. These are an uncommon type as their hives are usually scattered across Kare bay and the coast of the Kare Desert and as such, their main hive is on the eastern Peninsula facing towards Melay Garvyn. While small, their main hive is made of crystalized sand made from the Kare Deserts mineral deposits found near the red sand swirl of Fydrus. Located in the center of the desert, it is like a rite of passage for the worker types to get the Fydric ruby sands used in making up their hives.
The Nineth type is the Oceanic/Island type. These are known for being able to fully submerge themselves in the oceans of Fydrus for extended periods of times (upwards of a couple hours). and their appearance being very shark-like. Their pointed snouts, fins on their tails and pointed ears along with their blue color sheme as well as smaller size makes them look like a shark on Fydrus. They are another uncommon type as there are few islands they reside on, but they mainly live on the small, uncharted islands of Fydrus and the big Island south fo the Arctic Circlet and Northwest of Melay Garvyn.
The Tenth (omg we're at ten now o.o)(for reference, I've been typing for about 1 hour, 45 mins) type is Raidulian type. These ones are unique and also fairly rare in that they only come from the main Island in the Isle of Raidu. Their color scheme goes with the environment in that it's vibrant purples, blues, pinks, reds and greens. Their distinct features are their lightning bolt shaped horn, smaller snout and ears. Their home is known for having over 40,000 lightning strikes every hour in the northern parts of the island. To describe in better detail however, The isle of Raidu has Raidulian Sea serpents, lightning rod trees, poisonous plant life, venomous and electrically charged creatures, Raidulian lightning dragons, sharp and treacherous reefs, waves that are choppy and tall and dark like wine, skies constanly enshrouded in storm clouds and the raidulian rainforest. A couple centuries prior, some Faidric Drolus tried invading this island only to find how much of a living nightmare this place was and before they even got close to the shore, their boats sank from the reefs, serpents and lightning strikes. Since then, they never tried again as very few from that journey managed to make it out alive and tell their story.
The Eleventh type is the Space type. Considered the smallest of the Faidrinian biome types and also the second rarest, the Space type is known for their snout being shaped more like the nosecone to a space shuttle of sorts, their moon shaped horns and for their "space" color palette. This meaning white, purples(light and dark), blues (light and dark) and black. They are the a type not born on Fydrus and usually are found on space stations and spacecraft. They cannot however, survive out in the Vacuum of space UNLESS their host can.
The Twelfth and last biome type (for now) is the Radioactive type. The rarest and largest of the types is only been found mostly on Earth as Fydrus doesn't have any majorly radioactive areas besides parts of the Isle of Raidu, where no Raidulian types live. This type is known for their large stature, fur like texturing and strangely shaped horns. These were mainly made from a mixing of genetic material from a native population of wolves called "Cherno-Wolves" in the area and their color palette shows, with subdued greens, lime greens and black coloring. They reside within the Chernobyl Nuclear Seclusion zone. Not much is known of how big their hive is, but some believe it is a huge hive under the surface in a massive cave and some cherno-wolves now are hosts to some of the faidrinians.
For the next journal, it'll be covering host types, until then, Have a gooey day or night ^.^
