I'm just this guy, you know?
I've been part of the furry community, on and off, since roughly 2001 or so. I've never been that hardcore into things, but I like my fair share of moogles. At the end of the day, I view the furry community more or less as a worldwide episode of Cheers: As long as you're part of the community, you can go just about anywhere, and you'll find a group of like-minded people with whom you can hang out.
I've been a programmer for various game companies since mid-2005, and have bopped my way around the industry since. I got my start back at EA Tiburon working on a few forgettable and mediocre games, then made my way in 2007 to Vicarious Visions where I worked on most of the Guitar Hero games for the Wii and Spyro Skylanders for 3DS. After Activision ran Guitar Hero into the ground and laid off around 500 people (including a third of the VV staff) in early 2011, I tried to have a go at the indie industry along with my roommates who were laid off at the same time as me. We formed an LLC, Bat Country Entertainment, and pooled our resources, figuring between the four of us we could make things last for about a year.
Ultimately, we didn't end up hitting it big at the proverbial box office, and we went our own separate ways. All was not for naught, however, as I spent most of 2011 doing Minecraft modding. Some of you may have heard of some of the mods that I created, which included Kataminey Damacraft, CCTV, MADS, Wedge, and a few other one-off mods that I made just for fun. In early 2012 we all decided to get real jobs, so I headed off to Autodesk Scaleform as a "senior rendering engineer", specializing specifically in graphics technology and GPU-oriented code.
Ultimately, in September of 2013, my dream job came a-knocking in the form of a coder position on the Minecraft PC time over at Mojang AB in Stockholm, Sweden. I dropped what I was doing and fled to Stockholm as quickly as the hiring process would let me to work on the game that I loved. Numerous people knew that I'm involved with the furry community, and nobody really cared, because at the end of the day we were an eclectic group and everyone has his or her own weird side.
In January of 2015, I left Mojang AB to pursue other opportunities, and found a position at Midasplayer AB. That didn't pan out due to a back injury, so since then, I'm pretty much doing my own thing.

Alright, my wonderful fur friend
delu here in Stockholm basically twisted my arm by getting me back into the furry community, so I figure I owe all of y'all a synopsis of the past three years after I basically dropped out of the furry community.
Back in early 2011, I was one of about 500 people laid off across Activision in the mass Guitar Hero cull of February 2011 after they ran the series into the ground. So were several of my roommates at the time, so we all decided to pool our resources - commie-style - and figured we could make things last for about a year if we were careful with our spending. We formed Bat Country Entertainment, LLC, and published a couple of ultimately forgettable titles, prototyped a few more, and basically had a good time for that year as best we could. I also used the opportunity to learn to mod Minecraft, a game that I had recently become a fan of just a few months prior to the layoff. While doing so, I inadvertently made a few minor hits, which included Kataminey Damacraft, MADS, CCTV, Wedge, Phyzzle (a simple jBullet integration), the prototype of PlasmaCraft (one of the first mods to add significant amounts of new liquids), and other bits and bobs.
In early 2012, when the money ran out, we decided to get real jobs, so I ended up heading off to Autodesk Scaleform to be one of the two senior graphics engineers working on the Scaleform middleware. Ultimately it was a nice change of pace which helped lessen my bitterness towards the game industry at the time, as it's hard to stay unhappy when the UI library you work on is being used on hundreds of titles, from indie to triple-A. Over the course of about a year, I got to know my good friend and future-coworker Erik via IRC, after we started talking about various ways to improve the Minecraft renderer. This ended up culminating in an in-person interview with Mojang AB out in Stockholm in late September of 2013, where I met a wonderfully eclectic group of hard-working but fun people. The interview went well, and by late October it was off to Minecon 2013, where I was first introduced to the public at large. Since then, I've relocated to Stockholm, Sweden, found my love of game development again, and have had a fantastic time working on improving the rendering code in Minecraft for the PC.
Since I've moved to Stockholm, I've gotten to know a number of furs at the monthly Furry Fika. "Fika" is more or less a daily coffee break according to Swedish culture, and we usually end up with 20-30 furs all piling into the back of a cafe out in Gamla Stan to catch up on the past month or so. At the first Furry Fika I attended, I met a wonderful fur by the name of Delu, and we've spent the past two and a half months getting acquainted. If it weren't for him, I probably wouldn't have ended up updating my FA page, but I figured I had might as well since I'm going to be attending Nordic FuzzCon 2014, my first furry con in years.
For any of you who will be at NFC '14, I look forward to meeting you, and for any of you who won't, thanks for sticking with me through the years, and it's great to be back!
