Often times I go and look through the art I have commissioned over the years, or pieces I've won via raffles and the like and they almost always make me smile. Almost. There are a few pieces in my collection I can now say I am not entirely proud of, namely the ones that depict my character as a German soldier of the 1939-1945 period. In truth the Second World War has always fascinated me, and I always found Germany's uniforms, equipment, tactics and the like to be fascinating, so much so when I was in high school nearly twenty years ago I envisioned my own OC as being one. Later in life the idea was far less novel and I decided to move away from it, becoming less of an interest in mind though the idea of it was briefly revitalized when I began to have an interest in Historical Reenactment, and from there the idea struck me to get some more art.

Going back and reflecting upon my choices and preferences as a much younger person has left me somewhat disheartened, as even by labeling the artwork as being non-political, or trying to rationalize that 'it is just art', or even trying to handwave it by saying 'oh it's just reenactment stuff'... I realize now that perhaps that chapter of my life should come to a close. The saying of 'All Art is Political' comes to mind, and in truth that is not the type of political stance I want to get behind. I would like to believe I've matured enough as a person to know that sort of artwork glorifies that sort if ideology, even if my intent was not do do so when I got the art. I am in no way uncertain that there have been people I have likely offended with the artwork, let alone likely those people who I commissioned the artwork from in the first place were (in retrospect 'hopefully') uncomfortable in drawing it, so I'd not like to head down that path any longer. After I am done submitting this post all of my art featuring that subject will be deleted from my gallery.

I know I am a nobody on this website, let alone in the greater 'whole' of the internet, but for anyone who happened to stumble across that artwork in the past and was offended by it: You have my deepest and most sincere apology.
