2026 Shift in Gear (G)
Hi everyone,
I wanted to update on life stuff.
This year started with a HUGE shift. I didn't get into a bunch of big juried shows this year and a lot of my livability as an artist is impacted by in person sales. This unfortunate outcome added to my already high stress levels and quickly ate at my ability to take on new projects and complete commissions in an acceptable timeline. (Hell, I'm still working on a backlog of paid commissions from the previous year. And I feel so guilty for going through all this and it impacting the work promised to others.)
Due to this slowly creeping burnout, I decided it was right to take a real break.
It's been three months of being fully employed, not doing anything creative, and getting things back on track financially. It's hard emotionally, to feel I have given up and remind myself I am still an artist. Even if I am not focusing on it 24/7. This is giving me the space to find new solutions or approach the art world in the future once I can again. Most of all, it's helping me figure out what art I want to make to make me happy. And have fun.
The faint smoking ember, that is my love for art, is starting to rekindle.2026 Show List(maybe)
