Delving back into the past (G)
In the process of uploading all of this art from 2022, a strange phenomenon happened. Looking back at some of the older pieces, I felt mesmerized.
The ideas were too good, the passion put in at the time, was too genuine to be discarded as a simple milestone on the path of learning. I felt compelled to work again on them, both as a sign of respect to past me, for everything they put into these works, and also as a test for the present creature, to see how much i'd have progressed in these three years passed.
As I've said on Bluesky (available here if you want a sneak peek at what will be uploaded on this page later~), editing these old artworks has really been a surprisingly fulfilling experience.
Coming back to your old styles, seeing how they informed the current one. What was kept, and what was abandoned, all the progress and learning that was made, art and personwise.
I never thought it'd be such a journey !
It's made me rethink how I want to approach my work, and not only when it comes to graphical creations. Digging back old projects, giving them a second chance, with more experience acquired years later. Finally venturing back into that cruel dungeon that you gave up on because it gave you a harsh time. It's a hopeful process.
Nothing is ever truly lost, unfinished, or failed forever. If you fancy it, if it calls to you, you can try and give it a second chance !
Please take care of yourself, my dear critters, and see you next time~
