Sunday night into early Monday morning is probably something I will never forget, I'm not being dramatic about this. This is srs bsns.

My ex-boyfriend, who shall remain nameless, showed up on my property late sunday night. I was watching the house while my parents were on vacation. So, naturally, I was home alone. He broke into my house and started beating me with what I remember to be a baseball bat. He managed to give me severe injuries, he left me suicidal and fractured psychologically. I talked to the police, and a restraining order has been filed.


I dated this man for 8 months of my life, he spent 1 month being the best man I have ever been with; as soon as the second month hit, it was like watching a bomb go off in slow in slow motion. He turned from the greatest man to the hell on earth I would later grow accustomed to. I made excuses for him like "If I wouldn't be late calling, he wouldn't get angry", I put up with his abuse for a solid 7 months because I believed I was undeserving of anyone better.


I am stabilised now, I have charges pressed against him, and a restraining order pending. Despite all of this I have sustained multiple injuries including permanent brain damage, a concussion (moderate grade) and psychological trauma.


I can't stress this enough, know the warning signs of an unhealthy relationship. Talk to them, get to know them. They won't seek out help always, sometimes it needs to come to them. There are times where you need to be that person, the one that makes sure they're okay and won't leave their side until that time has come.
