I'm Saru. This is my "Sketch" account. I will be posting sketches and attempts at art for others to critique. My goal is to become a better artist.
I have only begun to start art, which is why I have started this account. Artists are free to give tips and opinions to help me. I have started drawing after over 10 years of not drawing. this will be interesting :-P
If you wish to commission me, my commission account is

Thoughts on drawing
So the other day, i drew this http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14484113/
well it was over a period of time. It was on my note, and i tend to forget i had it. (Looks like i'm in a straight jacket XD but its really hard to draw hands on a note, and i really didn't know what to do with the rest of her body anyway.) It originally did have lines (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/14429991/), but i erased them. I'm staring at drawing that i see on streams and wondering if maybe lineless is nto my thing yet. i love well done lineless. It can look very realistic, but I think there are some basics i need before tackling it. i know a lot of artists that still can't do it. I was taught more along the lines of lineless at ETSU, but i sorta sucked at it. i've drawing some over the years since. Life gets so busy that it has takena while to become better. I don't know why, but i draw objects better than actual beings O_o
I think i'll use lines until i can become better at drawing. I've been seeing some methods that might help me become better in how i draw. i've learned a few in the past, but they don't suit me. The basic sketch i have used is circles, but i like the triangles. (Um watch a sketch stream, you'll see it) When i think about it, thats what jean taught me too. (him teaching me structure of a figure http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10121429/) The triangle on the basic structure just helps with the shoulders, which i do have issues with sometimes. shoulders must be the same width as the rest of the body, which i don't always remember. Proportion is important in most situations. considering drawing anthros, not always true. Many anthros in the furry community are....creative? sometimes people don't make them that way, but those are unique situations that you tackle as they come. The majority do want proper proportions. Thats why i think use of a triangle instead of an oval or circle would be better for that one issue for the upper body. If you want to gauge this yourself, look at the human body. If you notice that most hip and shoulder ratio is the same If you draw a line straight up, most of the time, it always matches when standing straight. Some may not see that instantly, but it is true.
Positions are different, but i'm not sure i can do those yet. I mean i'd prefer busts just so i can at least work on faces, but i'll take any challenge if it helps me to become better. It'll just take longer to get done.
This is kinda one of the few things i've been learning from streams. I'm also learning color methods in streams. Coloring digitally is obviously different than using rl pastels or charcoal. Charcoal is fun though. :P my only problem with learning color methods in streams is you don't always see the brushes or the method. they just show the canvas. i watch those if there are not any others, but i usually prefer to see the side where the brushes are. i've mostly been watching sai streams from fa artists. i want to get sai down. i like how it draws.
The current stream i'm watching, i've learned a lot from...but i still feel limited. i want to learn layers and linking layers. most of the side is covered. i can see some of it. i've been just watching for how to draw images, since they start a new image from scratch quite often, cause its a donation stream. I do get to see some of their color methods. i have learned a few things about the brushes in sai, but i really wish i could see more....but beggers can't be choosers XP
