Important noteworthy facts about Tech and Privacy + Me St...
These days one's phone number is as personal as a SSN, and can be used to access information as personal as behavioral habits and interests.
I’ve noticed an influx of useful tools / sites / social media / etc… using cell phone numbers as a mandatory sign-up method for “security,” reasons. Understanding our devices already send so much identifying information about our OS and location, by not accepting any alternative methods to signing-up in the name of “security,” isn’t a good enough reason to have access to literally our identity.
Collectively, we’ve normalized the collection / harvest of identities for behavioral analysis, as developing marketing strategies is based on this strategy.
However, I believe this is a form of privacy invasion when the soul purpose for the information collected isn’t disclosed up-front, and is made difficult to understand by reading ‘by accepting our privacy policy, you also accept our partner’s privacy policy for their use of your information,” (good luck finding their partner’s privacy policy btw…) It’s all legal language used to legally undermine our critical thinking.
Then I hear jokes like “Who even reads privacy policies LAWL” - When it’s that form of mindset that got us in uncomfortable positions with companies, like how OUR ART IS BEING LEGALLY TAKEN FROM US AND USED FOR AI for example.
I’ve had jobs where I was required to pass really private information I got from people, to several different companies who did the same thing. The people who initially gave me their information thought their information was only with the one company, when studies are being done and systems scan through people’s online presence to gather information on literally almost anything about any single person.
It’s to the point where we don’t even see organic results - We are fed. And we have no control over what’s being fed to us.
OOF this has been on my mind for a while. It’s simply a matter of being careful about who / what has access to our money, time, and information.
We still have the power~
The solution is to LIVE LIKE PEOPLE DID IN THE 90’s (KINDA,)
Want some entertainment?
Use Odysee (Also, cut back on your entertainment consumption.)
((Notice how Odysee links are so simple - https://odysee.com/@GregAlder:6/day.....cado-a-profile
Take a YouTube video link, it’s like alphabet soup.
That’s because Google uses special links for each user every time a user copies a link. No 2 links will ever be the same. Google wants to know who you’re sending links to, and how many people you’re sending links to. They also identify people and groups using this method.))
Wanted to know something QUICK?
Use BRAVE (DuckDuckGo is popular, but it’s actually reporting to Microsoft and Google.)
((DuckDuckGo has been proven to be sending user reports to Google and Microsoft. When using DuckDuckGo, you might as well be using your personal Gmail account on Google.))
UNINSTALL APPS / USE MOBILE WEBSITES
Think of apps like SPYWARE (In a way, they are.) You can just visit the website in private browsers (YouTube on Brave is AD FREE,) it’s a little slower sometimes, but instant gratification isn’t always good for you.
By using apps, you’re also allowing the apps to collect data from other apps you have installed. These companies are not planning to attack you, but they use this information to track, monitor, and sell. By downloading apps, you’re giving the apps more value and money.
Leave your phone in safe spots when you don’t need it.
Developing a healthy relationship with tech is key. It’d increase the value of our time, the level of appreciation we have for each other, and lengthen our attention spans.
Nothing to loose, everything to gain. We shouldn’t surrender our light / privacy / lives for the sake of convenience.
I’ve talked to people about this before and heard sarcastic responses like “That’s if you’re paranoid,” and “Why make my life more difficult?”
When in actuality, you’re simply taking control over what’s ACTUALLY HAPPENING. Even if it’s small changes, if more people do it - we’re taking back our privacy and freedom.
GOAL: Stop patronizing boarder-line Monopolies - Wal Mart, Google, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc… And give more of our time and energy to each other, and smaller companies. Buying healthier foods from a farmers market is CHEAPER anyways! Got a friend with a clothing line - Why buy clothes anywhere else? Holiday / Birthday shopping can be done all throughout the year if we stopped distracting ourselves and didn’t rely on the convenience of eBay / Amazon BUY IT NOW-like amenities - utilizing these amenities, we’re further contributing to the influence and power they have.
Every change makes a difference! 👌
P.S.
I’m doing well! I just keep to myself these days..
Looking back, I realized I shouldn’t have put myself out on the internet like I did. My idea was to create a safe haven for anyone with any sexual interest to feel safe talking about it without fear of rejection. I exposed myself to so much flattery and disdain at a very early point in my life. I’d openly and personally respond to messages I’ve received from others expressing their ashamed interests and show compassion, regardless of the nature of their interest / wether I even liked it or not. It wasn’t my place to judge, and I felt there was a huge opportunity for others to freely express themselves. Let alone all the hate-mail and threats.
Personally, I’ve always felt that if THIS PERSON isn’t hurting others, then THIS PERSON is free to dream about anything and shouldn’t be held up as an object of ridicule.
Now this shift in society the past few years has occurred and I’m experiencing back-lash - People who I once admired, turning their backs / blocking me. Those I’ve once considered close friends, lying / taking things out of context to tarnish my character. Random people WHO DON’T EVEN KNOW ME, making posts twisting things I’ve said in ugly / untrue ways.
I know it’s common for celebrities and public figures to experience these things too, but it’s disgusting no matter how you look at it. We have this beautiful opportunity in life to unite and love, and some of us choose to hurt and lie - ultimately triggering a sort-of distrust towards each other / fear of opening up, which is contributing to segregation.
After withdrawing myself, I found there’s SO MUCH to be happy for outside of the digital world I grew up in. It’s so easy to get so caught up in the little things / distractions. I’m grateful.
Thanks for reading my BLERB! I’m still here! I’m not going anywhere Lol
