Denjotus Background:

The Denjotus species is endangered and relies heavily upon finding a mate and building a family.

They are usually found in heavily planted areas and try to form large groups once settled.

The colors of their skin enabled them to blend within their home. 

The symbol on their chest grows with each generation created. 

The denjotus also grows a stripe on their tail each year of life until the tail is completely black at this point the denjotus is able to fight to become lead denjotus.



Denjotus mating/breeding:

The antenna on their head signifies that they are mated, this antenna allows for the couple to communicate and locate each other no matter how far away. Their stomachs are always large even if not carrying off-spring, this allows them to ready themselves for mating, fighting, and hard weather. Once a mating pair is formed they are bonded for life. There is no gender for the Denjotus until spring time where all Denjotus are given the reproductive organs of both male and female. Typically the pair will switch who carrys the off-spring each mating season due to the fact that Denjotus carry their young for 2 years, even though the denjotus can carry more than one off-spring from different times it usually doesn't occur unless the other parent is injured or ill. Some Denjotus pairs are incapable of breeding and are able to give life to the nature around them instead, these are the rarest of Denjotus. When the denjotus gives birth to it's young they are very defensive and the light fluff around their stomachs becomes sharp quill like spikes. They are able to shoot their quills out at far distances at any given time to protect their young. While the young are born able to fend for themselves the parent denjotus will continue to care for the young until it reaches a desirable weight of 1,500 pounds, at this point the young denjotus will be able to wander off on it's own and begin searching for it's soul mate, if the young denjotus gets discouraged it's parents will welcome it back and continue to care for one another. The Denjotus species is sexually mature and able to reproduce after the 5th year and weighs around 3,600 pounds, that means that the young denjotus spend aprox 2 years searching, bonding, and courting it's chosen mate. The denjotus then remain together for life, if one denjotus is to pass away before the other the remaining denjotus will remain single and gain the ability to reproduce for the next 26 years using the dna of the deceased denjotus.



Denjotus hierarchy:

Alpha (the ruling pair): occupied. 

Semi-alpha (the runner up pair of alphas): Occupied.

Delta (The warrior group): Still recruiting. 

Delta minor (Those in training for a delta position): Full, but accepting special occupants. 

Denjomites (the rest of the denjotus species consisting of younger denjo and the nature denjo): Most Denjo are in this category.
