Just to get this off my chest - I AM NOT A FURRY, And after writing that, I expect someone to come along and post a reply. To those people, I say "not everybody needs to be covered in fur, scales, chitin, blubber or whatever else.". To everyone else, I say hello and welcome!
The history of being here is somewhat complex, but I will do my best to explain. You see while not a straight up Furry, I am at least "Half Furred".
Do I have a sexual interest in Anthros? No.
Do I have an interest in general in Anthros? A little, but not a signifigant one.
Do I know any other Furries? Yes, I've met at least one in my lifetime. He's probably reading this Journal Entry right now. AND I'VE BEEN WATCHING SOME OF YOU FOR SOME TIME.
Anyways, I have to admit I am somewhat alienated from Furries. I read the comments, overhear the words, and generally get the negative impression of Furries from most people. I think it's safe to say I've seen both sides of the fandom - I've met (and am friends with) a particully pleasent Wolf furry, while I am also very, very aware of the people who (for example) rally their comrades and hurl insults over the internet because Renamon/Krystal/Lucario etc have been insulted. I regard that as a bit silly really.
Now that I've mentioned that, I should also mention my stance on our Furred Kin.
What do I make of Furstylers (correct term?)?
The guys who wander around and act as if they're their own Fursonas? I haven't really had sufficent experiance here to comment, but I can't see us getting on very well.
What do you regard Furries as?
Seeing as I'm trying not to piss anyone off (except I've probably insulted three differant fanbases (furbases?) by this point and possibly more by the end of this), that should tell you I look at the person and not the Furred side.
Have you had any past experiance with Anthropomorphic Charecters?
A few I've made myself in the past, but my Furred Friend has a pair of recurring charecters he uses in RP. This generally makes creating new things difficult, but we are trying to work out our differances.
Having said that though, this also brings me to the opinion that a Anthro is just another flavour of Human. Effectively someone's reskinning job. Yet mysteriously enough a couple of Webcomics I've seen in the past (Concession (which I stopped reading) and Two Kinds) usually have Humans in some shape or form. The question then becomes where did all the furred ones come from? Are they Aliens? Genetic Hybrids? Some evolutionary branch? On that note, it is explained (or implied) in some examples, but in others I've noticed...you get the image.
Do you do art?
Define "Art" to me. I write and I draw (traditional, very little of that Photoshop stuff thank you!), but am not very good at either. I still love to do both though, usually more Non Fiction than Fiction however (RP Notes, Thoughts, Musings and (when I eventually get around to it) Reviews etc). So yes, I do Art...it's just not very good.
While I am here, I should bring up I have some mental issues. I have both Aspergers Syndrome and "Mild" Depression, so I would best describe myself in a word as "Volitile". A word of warning - somedays I'm happy, other days I can be nervous and paranoid, an other days I can be downright hostile, even without meaning it. In other words, I have the mental intellect of a Psychopathic Manchild. How else do you explain a grown man who occasionly watches Cartoons/Anime and still enjoys the odd episode of Power Rangers?
Anyways, I should wrap it up here before I run out of space. Generally speaking, there won't be any Artwork from me until I can scrounge the Pennies together for a Printer/Scanner, but until then, there's written work (a rarity from what I've seen).
Regards,
