The following is information on the intergalactic pirate crew Sylvia’s Cutthroats. This information is provided by the Intergalactic Security Board for use by field agents and subcontractors. Note that this information is not necessarily comprehensive. This document will be updated as more information becomes available.

Sylvia Undertow
History
Sylvia is a Mamagen, standing at 12’ 4” tall and is the captain of Sylvia’s Cutthroats. She was biologically engineered by the Kalzati BioTech Corporation in a lab on the planet of Ethril Prime. She was designed to be a super soldier for use by the planet’s local military. Sylvia was raised in containment for her early life until her escape from the Kalzati facility in her adult years. She quickly became involved with criminal elements on Ethril Prime and nearby planets, eventually culminating in the outbreak of the Ethril Prime Rebellion. This event saw Ethril Prime seized by a coalition of pirate factions and turned into a major hub for criminal activity. The following years saw Sylvia establish her own pirate crew, Sylvia’s Cutthroats. Since then she has worked to expand the power of the pirate coalition throughout the Lambda System while leading a mostly self-serving lifestyle as a pirate.

Analysis
Owing to the diligent work of Kalzati BioTech, Sylvia is significantly stronger and more resilient than other members of her species, even given similar size. She is capable of lifting up to 8 tons and enjoys using her considerable strength in close quarters combat. As such any engagement with Sylvia should be done at a distance. This presents another issue, the thickness of Sylvia’s tissue. Most small arms fire is ineffective against Sylvia, especially smaller caliber ammunition. Anti-material weapons are the minimum required to achieve significant damage. Sylvia is often boisterous, confident and licentious. This should be kept in mind when interacting with her.

Steraskil
History
Steraskil is a Brakki, standing 9’ 10” tall and acts as a tough for Sylvia’s Cutthroats. She hatched as the queen of a Brakki colony on the planet of Ydnar Beta, leading her tribe as a hunter. In her early adulthood her tribe began migrating across the planet, at which point she encountered modern, intergalactic society. At first she attempted to integrate with society at large on her volition, moving off-planet in the process. This lasted only a few years before Steraskil became disillusioned with the trappings of modern society. She returned to a hunter lifestyle in a nature reserve on the planet of Nahethera, leading to the disappearances of 6 campers. Following these incidents she was apprehended by local authorities. During transit to an intergalactic prison station, however, the transport craft was boarded by Sylvia’s Cutthroats. They were able to recruit Steraskil with the promise of regular opportunities to hunt.

Analysis
While Steraskil is not as strong as Sylvia, she makes up for it with considerable dexterity and nimbleness despite her size. She often takes advantage of ventilation shafts, maintenance ducts and other crawl spaces to ambush targets. Despite acting feral during hunts, she is completely sapient and aware of her actions. She derives great pleasure from chasing and capturing targets during boarding action, though she will still obey orders from Sylvia to stand down. As such negotiation with Steraskil is considered mostly futile.

Phamin
History
Phamin is a Synx, standing 6’ 3” tall and acts as the surgeon of Sylvia’s Cutthroats. He was born in the Lambda Interplanetary Research Center in the Lambda System. While participating in behavioral studies focusing on the sapience of Synx, Phamin learned to mimic social behaviors to get what he wanted. This led researchers to conclude he was mostly harmless. In adulthood he was given a position at the Fidmore Intergalactic Zoo under the supervision of a small research team. During one of the zoo’s planetary visits he escaped to a local space port. He was able to use his acquired social skills to lure in prey until he was recruited by Sylvia’s Cutthroats at the same space port. He has put his familiarity with anatomy to use as the crew’s only medical expert since then.

Analysis
It is notable that, while sapient, Phamin does not feel empathy or compassion like most other sapient species do. He is skilled at mimicking these emotions, however, as well as other social niceties. Through his observation of other species he came to understand that doctors are well trusted. As such he began referring to himself as one, even learning rudimentary biology, in order to earn the trust of potential prey. Phamin takes a perverse pleasure in tormenting his prey. To this end Phamin’s claws are sharp enough to pierce flesh. As such avoiding one-on-one interactions with Phamin is essential.

Ishimi
History
Ishimi is a Mesmer, standing 7’ 1” tall and acts as a negotiator and general silver tongue for Sylvia’s Cutthroats. She was born on the Mesmer homeworld of Soporos Prime. In her early adulthood the Mesmer population of the planet began facing oppression from local authorities. Ishimi began working as a performer at nearby space ports and space stations to raise money for Mesmer resistance groups. During this time she met Sylvia and was given an offer to join Sylvia’s Cutthroats. She accepted on the condition that the crew assist the resistance groups on Soporos Prime wherever possible. Since then Ishimi has sent most of her shares of bounty to said groups. She still occasionally works as a performer when the crew stops at stations.

Analysis
Ishimi’s primary strengths lie in her social engineering skills and the innate ability of her species to enthrall others. She most often employs these abilities to convince others to work with or submit to her allies’ needs. She is also one of the more mild-mannered members of Sylvia’s Cutthroats, having less self-serving goals compared to the rest of the crew. While diplomatic options can potentially be most successful with Ishimi, this approach involves considerable risk given her sharp wit. As such force is recommended, especially if she lacks the support of stronger crew members.
