Height: 3 ½ - 9 inches
Weight:
Lifespan: 15 – 22 years
Intelligence: High Intelligence with capability of trainingBreed Types:
Standard: The most common breed of Tiktik and the one with the most stable genes meaning there are less mutations among them. However, mutations still occur though rarer than with the others.
Wooly: An uncommon breed of Tiktik though widely popular as a pet due to their soft fur and cute appearance. These Tiktiks are the smallest of the Tiktik breeds and have a calm and sweet disposition.
Wild:
Species Wide Mutations: There are some common mutations that are seen throughout the breeds. These are random chance genetics and are often a surprise for the breeder due to an offspring being able to obtain on without either parent showing signs of the gene/mutation.
THESE INCLUDE:
* Extra Ears (non-functioning)
* Extra Eyes (non-functioning)
* Extra Toes (Polydactyly)
* Droopy Ears
* Lack of Claws
* Lack of Teeth
* Lack of USB Cap
* Wing Like Growths (non-functioning)
* Back Ridge
* Multiple Horns/Bone Plates
* Decorative ‘scale ‘ patches
Disposition: Tiktiks are social and vocal creatures that enjoy playing and hording things that they like. Due to this they have a great disposition to make it as pets. Many will enjoy a human’s company and in cases where they are allowed to roam the home (with precautions to keep them safe) they will follow their owner or rid around on them. Along with this they are highly intelligent and love learning meaning that they are great with training!
Abilities:
* Can leap three times their own height forward
* Able to give small electrical shocks using their bone plates and horns
* Has opposable thumbs and can carry objects with ease
* Can sap batteries of their power as a food source
* Able to 'plug in' to outlets and USB hubs for a power/food source
* Can see in the dark
* Bone plates, horns and eyes glow softly and is noticeable in the dark
Diet: A Tiktik’s diet consists primarily of roots, fruit/berries and seeds. However many have acquired a taste for dairy products such as cheese, milk and yogurt. They are also capable of ‘eating’ electricity and will chew on batteries and cords.
Environment: Naturally, these small creatures will live underground in many of the warmer climates around the world preferring to be left alone in the wild. However, in colder climates where the ground is too hard to dig properly, they take refuge in homes and other human buildings gaining them the label as a ‘pest’. These creatures are on nearly every continent naturally where humans have populated, and lightning strikes are recorded.
Care: Caring for your new Tiktik is important for not only their health but also for your new relationship with them. They require very little care but as a mischievous creature require A LOT of supervision and restrictions.
Bathing: Keep your new pet away from being submerged in water if possible (especially the Woolies) as they have very dense and insulated fur covering them meaning they can grow mold! They prefer dust baths and light cleanings with a damp cloth or wet wipe.
Housing: Tiktiks enjoy having room to run and we recommend giving them a room dedicated in your home with lots of toys and climbing objects to safely occupy their time with. However, if a room is not available a large, rubber bottomed, cage is an okay substitute.
Feeding: Please keep to a vet recommended diet for your new pet. I know it will be tempting to feed them treats and people food but know that your new little friend lacks the same digestive system that we do! This means that they can get sick from things that we commonly enjoy and ingest. If you wish to give your Tiktik a treat, please use fresh fruit and limit dairy products although they enjoy them.
Breeding: At home breeding projects are currently against the law in many places around the world due to the species still being new to the pet scene. Please refrain from starting one unless you get DIRECT permission to do so thank you!
Special Care:
Woolies: Please keep them out of water including the rain as these little guys are susceptible to molding more frequently than the other breeds. This is a sever medical condition that will require a vet visit at the first signs. If your Tiktik gets soaked, we recommend a hair dryer set on cool heat to be used on them gently while brushing the thick fur backwards to dry it all the way down to the skin.
This breed requires regular brushings to prevent tangles in their thick, long fur. The snags can potentially hurt so be gentle with them and use an appropriately sized brush/comb.
Standards: These little guys require very little special care as they have been bred for the cleanest of genes meaning there are very few health problems or risks to them. However, they do require to be kept dry as they are susceptible to mold growth as well!
Ferals: The wild Tiktiks lack the mutation to digest dairy and should not be given any dairy products even as a treat. They cannot be put on pellet food due to the dairy content in most manufactured pet foods. They require a diet consisting of fresh fruits, seeds and roots that they would naturally find in the wild.
Warnings: WARNING those with pacemakers should be very cautious about owning and touching a Tiktik as the small shocks hey are capable of giving can prove to be fatal! If you are an individual with one of these please wear rubber gloves/shoes when handling these small creatures to protect yourself from the shock. There are also special rubber horn caps that can be purchased and used to help nullify the electric discharges from your pet. Please take precaution!
Fun Facts:
* The name 'Tiktik' comes from the rattling noise that the creatures make when happy. They do this by shaking their bum that has the bone cap on it covering an electrical port; when the port inside shakes it taps the bone and causes a tiktiktiktik noise.
* Female Tiktiks have a pouch to carry their young similar to marsupials.
* The only physical difference between a male and a female of this species is that the male's horns will be bigger for display and protecting his mate(s)
* This species is known to be polyamorous with no convictions about same sex partnerships.
* They live in family groups or packs that work together to survive and raise young.
* It takes up to 6 years for a Tiktik to become full grown.
* Electricity works like sugar for the Tiktik and 'electricity highs' are common among the species resulting in the 'zoomies'.
* These creatures create nests of different warm materials, wires, and shiny objects that they find amusing.
* Tiktiks can understand human speech but lack the vocal cords to speak.
* Tiktiks can be trained to be used as a small power pack in which they charge a phone in emergencies.
* They purr, chirp and click to communicate
* They are known to rub cheeks in greeting with one another and will do so with their handlers as well
