Face down, ass up, that's the way we like to f...wait.
;) Doing a little catchup.
The phrase "Moo Colonel" makes me think of the COWBOYS of Moo Mesa. Did you ever see that show?
What captures me about this piece, aside from the little touches that tell us about Buford (like his fondling of his horns at the opening) is the true tavern spirit, and how this guy can turn their mood with just a few words. I really got the feeling like everyone here knew each other and, whether they like each other or not, they can at least get together at the tavern for a few drinks, a few laughs, and a good time with the news of the new heir. Great setting in this, I'd like to see more from this world. ;D

Someone asked me the other day (when I shared Courage with a writer friend who isn't familiar with FA) "Why animals?" when I could just as easily write "human" characters. I told him one of the reasons is the Jester's Honesty. You can put a mask on and say truths that would otherwise get you hanged . . . .
This seems a wonderful story with very friendly characters who put in bold language the reasons for war that so many of us suspect, or as the Grandmother in Pippin says "Men and their wars . . . sometimes I think they raise flags when they can't get anything else up."

*laughs... I made that one up...
this is a Thursday Prompt - everyone in the group uses the same prompt, which this time was 'breaking news'. Each of us then writes a story to it... the time limit (not really a limit but a guide line) is 15 minutes to do the story and as much time as you want to edit. In this case, this is what came to me.
