
Before I became one, I asked my mother if there was one thing she regretted not doing before her normalcy would cease to be. She smiled for a moment and lost herself in a memory, eyes distant, and after a period of silence she spoke.
"I regret not diving off the cliff of the cenote that's nearby. My friends would say how incredible the sky looked from there... as if the sunlight was reaching out to you. I feared that doing so would make the gods angry."
I decided then and there, to take advantage of it all. The sights and sounds, the smells, the warmth of the sun. Because before long, such little pleasures would be lost on me...
