One Night. (first dance/dubstep track with Protocollie)
Me and
costello got together over the winter and made this little thing
What do you think? I rap, I sing, we both wub wub.
I played everything on keyboard, He made everything sound fantastic.
What do you think?
This is the first electronic track i've written. Would love to know what you think.

I am a mixed bag of
emotions about this
On one hand its catchy
and the break down
is fun but on the other
hand I don't know...I
just don't know....ugh
you twist me up with
this tasty but so
mainstream sounding
track. ARGHHHH! I'm
not so much a hipster
as I am disgusted by
all the over produced
synth garbage...*twitch*
Pop music really knows
how to pile on the layers
of unnecessary studio
bullshit...it's like comparing
the taste of say
Giordano's to frozen pizza
from Wal-Mart...the frozen
pizza sometimes tastes good
even great but something
is always left to be desired
...It's good, the breakdown
is better...
What was I talking about?
I am rambling?

heheheh yeah I didn't know how you'd react to this one.
It's very very different feel from what I usually do and yeah it's way simpler.
The effort went into the sounds used more than the chords used but I wanted to write something that sounds "popular" and I think we succeeded there hah.

First off, this is a great song. Please keep that in mind as I continue.
I'm struck by a certain disjointedness when it comes to your singing voice in this. You're obviously using the same effects (echo and whatnot) that you normally apply to your voice for your acoustic and rock tracks. This does not mesh well with the electronic music; the production qualities are too varied. It sounds, for all the world, like someone took a Look Left vocal cut and added some dancey dubstep to it without otherwise touching it, though that's perhaps a tad harsh (the music itself is great!)
It's not all bad news, though. I found your voice sounded just fine when you were rapping. I cannot explain this at all. I also thought the rapping itself was pretty darn good, and you should feel good. :)
Overall, I approve of your trying this new direction. I've seen other rock artists try their hands at electronic, and they didn't get things right the first time, either. That said, the music itself comes across really well, and I think if you just work on how you treat your voice, there will be some great music in your future. :D

yeeeeah I don't have a super high voice that goes best with this kind of music but then I think that's just cause it's what peoiple are USED to hearing, so when a baritone goes for it, it sounds odd.
The next one we're doing I wrote far higher. We had a TON of autotune and stuff on it, but I just couldn't bear it.
If i get my voice higher on other stuff like this i think you'll like the results.

What I think? I think your music is awesome and I think electronic music is awesome so if you multiply the awesomeness of your music by the awesomeness of electronic music then you have awesomeness times awesomeness which is awesomeness squared. The math doesn't lie... The answer is Epic!
Colour me surprised Pepper, I never thought you'd be one to do some dubstep. Anyway, I have to preface this by saying I'm certainly no fan of dance or dub music. The production was, per usual, amazing. I felt the lyrics were a tad contrived (but it is a dance song) and the beat a little generic. I also feel your voice isn't a good fit for this type of music, the wubs hide your beautiful vox behind a wall of noise.
In my opinion it leaves a lot to be desired, but good on you for doing something new. I look forward to any more adventurous songs where you try to break your own mold.

it was so fun! The production wasn't as much in my hands this time, though he did consider my suggestions.
The lyrics, yeah. I tried to write what I thought people wanted to hear hah.
My voice isn't conventional for this no. Ideally I'd be a high tenor with a very penetrating tone, but .. well I can't change that hah.
for the next one I'm gonna try and write it higher so it sounds more... I dunno conventional I suppose.
Thank you for listening to my latest attempts heheh
