That's not a red-tail, looks more likely to be a Cooper's Hawk.

Yea we have them and their smaller cousin's Sharp-shinned Hawks all the way down here in Colorado too. I love them.

I think they are really neat. I really like the ospreys we have here. Those are really beautiful birds. Wish I could get more owl pics but I rarely see them around here.

The only Owl pics i usually get are of the ones where I work. I post them but not to this account.

I love taking pictures of birds. I'm a bird nut.

All the floof! I think he was puffing up a bit because I was able to get really close (withing about 5 foot) of him.

Actually he seemed pretty healthy. If you mean the feathers around his beak and feet it was because he had just killed a sparrow and was munching on it when I showed up. He hopped away from it and was looking up at me. I thought he was ill until I saw that he had his lunch not too far away.

You work with birds of prey? Cool!
