Adopt Me! (A First Fu Fenid - With Alliteration!)
... Eeeyup, I actually went through and did it for real this time! I hadn't realized how much I missed just going to town on freestyle pattern/color designs until I had this template kludged together and at my fingertips, so... here we are! This fellow's not just an example; s/he's actually up for grabs if anyone wants 'em.
These guys are called Fu Fenids (... or they are until I figure out something better), and they're essentially just a very smart guardian/companion/protection type chimera to be used in any number of ways. I envision them as being like very big, very intelligent dogs. They all have a set of small tusks (well, teeth) growing out of the bridge of their nasal bones, accompanied (usually) by a secondary horn set on top of the head and possibly another pair by the flank or shoulder. Colors can be just about anything, too. This guy's got a slightly plusher coat than the standard, with some extra fluff around the knobbly bits and a few odd white 'feathers' along the tail. Piebalding or something? Oh, and they're omnivorous-- probably in the same way dogs are, with a preference for meat but the ability to digest carbs and starches when need be.
I may offer ... custom-y things at some point if it's worth it, but right now they're just my excuse to de-stress and have fun coloring on something I made for shits and grins between commissions, so what trickle you may see will probably be premade on whatever whim I feel like.
20 bucks'll get you this character (USD via paypal) with this image and a larger version at working size to do whatever with. RP with 'em, draw 'em, have fun. As long as it's not resold for a profit or something sketchy like that, I have very little reservation about these things.

I wish I could, it's absolutely gorgeous and ironically similar to a dream creature that once crossed my mind.. Beautiful work and love the patterns, the expression with those bright eyes made me giggle, reminds me of my pup. Brilliantly done, now if only I weren't flat broke...
Ah, yeah, I mentioned that I might wind up doing that at some point if it was a viable thing. Right now I've just been dickering around with the value template I smeared together as coloring practice, so that's where this fellow came from.
Adoptables are a strange and foreign thing to me here on FA so I'm still very much testing the waters at the idea of doing it with any gusto. This is the first I've even dared attempt something to sell.

Ah, yeah, sure thing, man. I *may* not be able to do anything custom in good conscience until I open up my next round of commission slots (since I *think* a custom would count as a commission if I'm being technical), but I'll be happy to hash out anything you like, for sure!
OH UH HI SURE HE'S YOURS :D
... And not as far as I can tell! I don't see the species as having much in terms of sexual dimorphism short of... well, reproductive gear, which is the fairly obvious mammal standard. I imagine some of 'em can get pretty bushy manes and hairy necks like a lion, though females could rock that out too.
(Essentially they're thusfar 'anything goes if it seems like a fun idea to draw' because I'm a dork.)
