well furries and gents and ladies who love to watch me for some update on my painting table and still wondering if I should start up that seperate alt account dedicated to my painting projects... after this I think i may be doing that soon *laughs* got a name idea from a friend *nods* i'm look at you
boheemus :P
Anyway, I have never in my years of warhammer 40K ever sat down and painted up a Khorne Model before, I own a bunch and am building a bunch for a friend to use as well as for my own use but I never reached a point where i had it all good to go as i wanted... well I was ahem.. struck i suppose with inspiration over this last weekend and a friend from the store fortunately had a unit of 4 of these bad boys pre built and ready to go that i was eying up with ideas and wild thoughts.
To my unexpected joy he told me if I wanted to take one of them home and take a crack at em and do the experiment i wanted to do for a Khorne Terminator. now these guys are made out of Forge World parts so the mere idea of him just handing them over and saying "go have fun" was a bit of a shock to me... well more then a bit i suppose I had a feeling i needed to make these guys look really good... or at least as much as i could! *laughs* so for the last couple of days for an hour or two here or there I have snuck in painting vigorously and have just recently finished this *holds out hir paws*
I have more pictures of more sides of him but those are saved until i open up my alt account for mini painting be they be works for my own armies, or commissions, or just go have fun models :P (*wishes shi get a few more painting commissions but sighs and shrugs*)
Now onto how i did it. well for the armour on the mini i can officially say that for the first time ever in my life I have done I suppose wet blending! man was it interesting i cheated to start by having the model sprayed red base, then i washed the hell out of it with a black wash and then a red one to get those nice dark recesses before working on wet blending the colors back up.
the gold was much easier then the red but i do love how this turned out i may have to look into this for an experiment on some of my word bearers I make in the future. the axe i did up in a hopeful lava-ish/fire theme on it and the 'black' was using a deep grey and washing a couple of times with black wash then wet blending a little grey on it. the bones are funny enough the easiest part where i apply some old denbe stone then wash with sepia and then give a light work with bleached bone and vo-lah!
Anyway before i ramble on for hours on end, please enjoy the model please do not make any khorne jokes... i've heard them on *sighs* just tell me what ya think and thoughts about what you believe i could have done different etc etc etc
Cheers,
