"The first thing they teach you at the academy is "No giant robots." It is a necessary cruelty when dealing with a generation brought up on "Bertha Behemoth" and "Giant Ghetta Ghetter Dun". Watching a technician like myself wasting away hours on bionic schematics must seem to them like observing Don Quixote, tilting at the mother of all windmills. It is for the best I suppose, enough to be satisfied with the insectoid models used for terraforming and warfare. Frankly, the logistics of a fully formed, bipedal, super powered mechanical denizen are just mind boggling. I mean, you would have to have found some sort of ancient Martian ring with the power to turn dreams into mechanized reality.
You know, next time I'm wishing for things, I'll wish for a couple billion credits and a harem of Hooter graduates. Snerk! Nah, who am I kidding, this is SOOOOOOOoo much cooler!"

Part of a series I was working on involving magical mechanical divas fighting it out on Martian soil. Sometimes I like to draw what I can and sometimes, I draw what I simply can't and see what happens. This is one of those latter times, but I've been such a good boy, I figured I deserved a treat.

Heh, well, she's more or less a "fantasy" mecha. Her design is a bit old school based on the cartoon he watched as a child. In all honesty, she's more of a Djinn or avatar who has taken the form of a giant robot in order to grant his "wish" about being a hero with a giant robot at his command. Later on, she changes form based on what is needed to defeat whatever challenge they face, including the ability to increase several times over in size. (Oh no, there goes Toyko, go go Giant Robilla.. woooooOOo!)
She's got one sexy design goin' there.
And you're right about why giant humanoid mechas are impossible at the current stage of human technological development. In order to achieve even have the mobility you see in animes you'd need to build them out of an ultra light, mega strong aloid and then there's the enhuman complexity involved in the clockworks of its body.
Personally though, I prefer mechas more on pare with Xenogears, G-Gundam, and Esciphlone; not only capable of moving perfectly insick with the pilot, but just as much alive as the pilot.
What are going to do for an encore.
