I've always been thinking of the idea of a TGTF into a foxgal from a pill or a pair of clothing...Something as hefty as an hourglass or totem just seems to control the mind and body for a much longer period of time...

Also...what would happen if that hourglass breaks?

Given that the change seems to come and/or go as it shifts from one end to the other, perhaps the sand breaking out would simply leave him permanently changed.
