Brock and Bella start to grow closer as they continue their journey together. It's not always easy, or tidy, but Bella begins to understand her new charge better as Brock starts learning to trust in others for help.

This story does contain some baby-fur content and age regression and makes some minor reference to diaper usage. This aspect of Brock's world is not dwelt upon, however, as it is incidental to the story as a whole. To say that Brock needs diapers when he is regressed is like saying he has stripes on his face. It's simply a part of who he is, and I feel no need to make a big deal about it.
Author's Note: There are scenes i this chapter which I thoroughly enjoyed writing, playing with the theme of innocence and trust which I hold so dear to my own heart. I love the fact that Bella is clearly not a morning person and Brock is an early riser, and I intend to play with that some more in later chapters. I'd always wondered why Brock chose to grow a goatee as an adult (other than the fact I have one as well, that is...) and I think this is as good a reason as any I could have come up with! LOL

Lol. Just gonna have to wait and see. And really, it's not VALTReC per se, just Chesbrough and her cronies. VALTReC is a fine institution which takes care of a lot of wounded soldiers, though there's a certain bureaucratic malaise about the place which allowed her to rise as far as she did despite her slightly psychotic tendencies.

Just curious, does Brock get a slight regression in his personality or in his mental state when he's younger than a certain point? Or is he just happy about the change of scenery at the moment? Just crossed my mind while I was reading this one

What happens is his emotions are much more intense, and far more volatile the younger he is, and he's far more likely to lose that emotional battle as well no matter what his mind is telling him. And, yes, he's definitely in a much better head space now, though that's probably more to do with Bella than just a change in scenery. He's allowing himself to care about somebody again, and to let somebody care about him.

There are a lot of nice little interesting things in this chapter. It's interesting seeing Brock being so dependent and yet not wanting to be, especially since Bella's learning a lot too.
But I like the idea of Brock finding it embarrassing to have Bella give him a bath, and how it's different from being changed. But I also like how she encouraged him to be more cublike to enjoy it more. Plus it was fun reading about the bubbles and the drying off and how Otto never did it right since he's an otter who doesn't mind being wet.
