Taught in many Chinese martial arts this particular dao was a commonly used sidearm by the cavalry and infantry of the Ming and Qing Dynasties.It has a moderate curve along the length of the blade that increases its slashing and cutting ability but reduces its thrusting ability(which is still fairly effective).It measures around 36-39 inches and weighs around 2-3 pounds.
