Here we have another special weapon from Crystal's buster, the Gravity Hold. It's based off of the Dark Hold special weapon from Megaman X5 and works in a similar manner. The difference is rather than freeze all enemies on screen, the attack focuses on Crystal's target in his line of sight. He fires a small dark blast that, when collided with the target, enlarges and captures the foe in a void of gravity, suspending them in middair either for later capture or immediate destruction. Like the Gatling Freeze, The Gravity Hold consumes a moderate amount of special weapons energy and Crystal uses this attack sparingly.

I was just playing X5 earlier today. Damn throwback to Quick Man's stage, and then the Black Devil boss at the end. It's like Capcom asked themselves, "What are the two things that always pissed people off the most in the original Mega Man series?" and shoved both into one stage.
If anybody says they can't, then they haven't played Mega Man games before. If they claim they have experienced those things, and still can't relate, then they're lying.
Annoyingly, they made the laser stage even tougher in X5 than it was in Mega Man 2 because Dark Hold doesn't last nearly as long as... Ummmm... Whatever Flash Man's weapon was called. *looks it up on Gamefaqs* Time Stopper. I always think Flash Stopper because of the related names, but then remember that's the one you get from Bright Man.

Well either way the lasers are still evil. It's just that in Mega Man 2, the time stopping weapon to halt them in their tracks lasts for about 90-100% of the level's length. The catch though is that it's also the boss's weakness.
I own both ZX games, but haven't yet gotten to them because I haven't yet beaten all the Zero games. Zero 2 bugged the hell out of me for years because of how the ranks influence obtaining boss powers, so I kept stopping early into it. I finally finished it though a few months ago on the collection for the DS, and then proceeded to clear Zero 3 as well. Being able to use X and B for shooting and jumping, as opposed to the GBA button layout alone made a huge difference in my ability to get high enough ranks. I then started Zero 4, but only got about halfway through before getting distracted by other games that then released.
I have played through just about all of the Mega Man, X, Legends, Battle Network, and Starforce games, though. The only exception that comes to mind (other than those that never released outside Japan) is Misadventures of Tron Bonne, which I've owned for years, but just keep putting off.
