*huge smile* Thank you so much! I've been trying to sneak some of my writing into my artwork, or at least put some in the description.. *nods* What I write tends to feel quite a bit more personal to me than the drawing by itself.. so, the fact that you enjoyed the prose just as much as the art makes me feel very happy. ^_^ Thanks again!!
I cannot begin to tell you how amazing I think this piece is... it's just.... so.. amazing. :O
Missy is such a strong character and I love how much depth there is. Even though you only portray her pics in black and white it brings out so much more of her mysterious aura than if they were high-detail CG or something.

*smiles warmly* Thank you very much for the comment! It is extremely unlikely that they would be attempting to cheer her up. They generally do exactly the opposite without really even trying... they're just so good at it, you see.
They make her miserable in a variety of different ways. After all, they feast and grow on that which is intangible and, for them, negative anima (bad feelings) are unequivocally delectable.. Keeping her in frightened or angered moods is beneficial for them.

I see..but wouldn't their chosen food supply run low after a while? I mean, constant food woo hoo awesome and tasty, but what would happen if the person committed suicide or just plain lapsed into an unemotional depressive state? you can't really feed on the feelings of someone who doesn't HAVE feelings anymore. It would be like constantly trying to drink out of a straw that someone was pinching, too much effort for not enough sustenance. You would think they would get more out of raising her mood as high as it could go and then creating a downward spiral that grows worst and faster with time until she hit rock bottom and then repeating the process over and over as many times as possible.
at least that's what I would do if I was an angst-eating monster.
but anywho, now that I know that this is a character of yours and not just a random piece, is there any more info on her? she and her terrible monsters sound interesting. c:

LOTS of good thoughts here! Thank you!!
Yes. Yes it would! Their foundation / vessel cannot feed them constantly, definitely not. They take what they need, when they need it.
And yes. They do that as well, by being unresponsive / quiet for some time. They've done it a couple of times ..allowed her to be happy, and then took away that happiness. Another one of their techniques is to provide her with a particularly gruesome / terrifying / heart-wrenching dream, feeding off of the emotions created while she's unconcious.
The manifestations also can feed off of happiness as well, it just does not taste as good to them. It's just ..not their thing, as it were.
Very interesting that you should bring up the idea of suicide or emotional blankness. She actually..well... can't die. Not while the monsters are there. They can give her enough energy to keep her from, just for example, starving. That happened once. Missy normally does not eat enough to begin with, but she ceased eating all together for too long, and They had to step in and provide her with the Must Eat Now sensation, and enough energy to pick herself up and go get a sandwhich or whatnot.
As far as blankness goes... If she experienced a blank state, they could simply wait until she is feeling responsive again, or (and more likely) give her a pleasant dream. There are many other methods, too.
Missy is one of my very personal characters. I write for her more often than I depict her in illustrations. Generally, she is a character I would role play with along with other folks' character(s).
