mmmm... no... this one's not the golden orb weaver... this one's just an orb weaver...

yeah, weird difference but the "golden" part comes from the actual spider that can make a web that literally looks like is made of gold... also, the web is extremely resilient @_@

It's very rare, though their webs are large enough to catch small birds. It's not very common.

Nephila clavipes, I think. Golden orb weavers are awesome with their square butts and leg warmers. That webbing is extremely strong, especially when you put your face in it by accident.
