The House of Devou.
Durning the years Daos was inprisoned in stone and his body protected at the bottom of the Burning Mountain. He was still able to reach out with his will and influence certin aspects of the world.
One such aspect was to make a Deal with the Draconians in the cresent and have one of their most trusted Citizens come out and assist in building Azamunda. this Individuals name was Arkain Devou the 1st. a massive crimson dragon from the cresent mountains who in past years had already been a Lasion for the rest of grimora. fact is that the Draconians of grimora have always been there to aid the younger races, a fact that has been obscured throughtout history (Many human historians like to belive that the races of man have no need of teachers or guides but the truth is the human race in Gothrin and Grimora wouldv died out long ago if not for the Draconians. the dragons have a sort of Pity love for the humans and do indeed feel that they are in dire need of some guidance...sad aint it? )
However. Arkain wasn't always to hot on the idea of helping humans and in fact had always been there for other races. feeling that a time would come when his help was needed was just waiting for the opportunity to assist the Beast races and the Monsterouse races of Gothrin (where they all hailed from btw, as if this fact hasn't been made clear enough!) . so when the chance did come , Arkain was excited. and Did everything that Daos asked.
He Built the red palace, founded the Azamundian Bazzar and ever took it apon himself to build himself a home under the cliffs where the red palace stood. not only that but Arkain built his home as a sort of place of study, this being linked to the Archology Station (or Library) where variouse intelligent monsters may share all their knowledge with one another.
now many may argue that a City or Kingdom of monsters just Invites the wayward adventuerer to break in ,slaughter many a monster for XP and steal all their loot right?
Well, their dead wronge. this is where Arkain also Founded the Crimson Guard (later to be known as the Crimson Knights in New Gothrin 1000 years later).
Masters of every exotic weapon there is, as well as the art of Capture and Detainment, the Crimson Gaurd's main duty is to Keep Adventuers either Out of the city or Discourage them from doing anything that would otherwise get themselves killed.
that aside, Arkain basicly became the Stuart of Azamunda and looked after the monsterouse kingdom until such a time that Daos would one day return and claim his throne. to continue the tradition each and every head of the house would be named Arkain and would almost always be a Crimson Dragon.
this tradition went on for 13 generations of Dragons, until we come to the current head of the house of Devou , Arkain the 13th. who unfortunately, has no heirs. however. as part of another tradition that the 1st arkain started, the doors of the Devou house are always open and anyone may enter as a free citizen of Azamunda in the search for knowledge and serveing their duty to the city. this as attracted many to the house of devou over the past years and some of them have even taken up space in the house as permenet residences.
Adrian.
As each Arkain took his place in the house and have their duty as servents to the whole of the city. each has taken apon themselves to instruct a Mage in the ways of Magic, to serve as Their Rigth hands just as the Devous are the right hands of Daos. but in this special case, Adrian is Arkains 5th son.
Now I know what you may be thinking. and your right. Dragons can have kids with just about any other speices. well in this case. Adrian is Not directly related to Arkain the 13th. in fact, the 13th Arkain has made it his Hobby to Adopt children with unique and special talents and traits that can serve the whole of Azamunda in very special ways. heck he has even Adopted Whole Families into the house of Devou , (thinking its better to take every member of the family instead of just one. you know. don't break those family bonds so you don't have any vengeful uncles or whatever)
Anyhoo. Adrian didn't have a family in beginning, in fact, no one knows if he really had a mother or a father. when he brought to the doorstep of the House of Devou, he was Deliverd by a Mysterouse stranger in Iron Robes!, that's right a Dretchling found him in the desert and brought the boy to Azamunda to be looked after.
when asked where he came from the Dretchling (whos name was Xatha'Sharask'Zasharken, Zavar'Vishar'Aran ) stated that "His Mother is the Ocean, His Father the earth. he is born from the blood of Dai'goth and his Flesh is the flesh of the beast" . Plainly speaking, he was a Child of magic, naturaly born from the ebbes and tides of the arcane waves themselves and is a true Sorcerer.
Arkain held the babe in his paw , and when he looked into the boys eyes saw the mark of magic, eyes of green jade, with purple hues in the center and the light blue around the edges, Arkain knew that the Dretchlings words were true, and so took it apon himself to raise the boy and teach him everything he would need to know to serve in the house of Devou.
Adrian's backStory
Adrian grew up like any normale child would however. and in the house of Devou had many siblings, (aprox 100, however he was very close a certine Otterfox family that were also adopted into the house of devou) but of corse due to his unique link with magic always felt he was alittle more detachted from the rest of his adopted family (how that's possible In a world where everythings magic is beyond me really. but I digress)
As a boy he was very much a loner but always seeking adventure, did what he was told and didn't argue much. he loved to experiment in his own privacy and didn't socialize very much anyways, but would join in with his "Siblings" whenever invited to play games or go out for long walks, but very much kept to himself.then his Powers begin to manifest.
And befor he even began to grasp what he was capable of, his father Arkain pulled him aside and showed him the very basics of magic, and for a time that seemed to be enough, for Adrian took to studying magic very well but still seemed alittle aloof on the subject. again Adrian did what he was told and studied the rudemetry basics of what magic was and some very simple spells...
Until the age of 15.
and in what could only be describe as an un-usual set of circumstances, Adrian began to Unlock and Explorer His Own Magic. and after having a series of Visons, began to Create His own Spells, he also learned he had the abilitse to Learn magic just from observeing others, and even able to learn magics that arnt able to be learned, like mystic magic for example, he was able to learn all the Gaze spells from Virgle herself during a viset to Mosenburge, IN A DREAM. Adrian soon realized that his dreams could take him places and allowed him to learn things in whitch no other spellcaster was able to learn.
From there Adrians Life Began to really change. he Dove into study, raided the archology station every night and began to experiment in the vaults and catacombs under the Red palace and the house of Devou. he communicated with Dai'goth, spoke with Leviathan, Virgle and Kirrin, he even DreamWalked to Lakahn's Hut in the cresent and learned magic from each of them.
he spent so much time he forgot his duties as a Red mage in the house of Devou and after one argument with his father, made an Absolution. that he would only serve the house of Devou and Azamunda if it ment learning more magic. and in the days that followed, he did as such. but unfortunaly. nothing truly came of it. a lot of what happens in Azamunda is pretty much day to day, the Crimson Gaurds did their job very well and a lot of what couldv been truly benefical learning experiances were almost resolved without his influence and Adrian spent a lot of his time just going over past experiments and reading old books and chatting with the gods of Grimora and Gothrin.
than finaly, something happened. He Bumped into a Demi-Rat, who spoke of Grinning Merchents, missing artifacts and Magic Books whitch were lost in time.
this appealed to the younge roos sense of adventure. and when he discovered as evasdropping on the Demi-rat and his companions that they needed an artifact that was in fact in danger of being stolen from the 1st Arkain, Adrian imedately took action and Joined the group . saying that his experience and knowledge was enough to aid them in their quest and Beyond. at first Arkain was agenst the idea, for he loved his son do dearly and was nervouse when he whatched Adrian enter the catacombs with these would-be adventuerers, but he knew in his heart that it was time to let Adrian go and Create his own Destiny.
(Alternate Backstorise. for variouse reasons iv decided to give this main character two other optional backstorys. and see whitch one fits better)
Alternate version 1
Arkain was visiting a village somewhere in Gothrin and met a younge Rooess named Adriana. at first it seemed like just another meeting but then Adriana became infacuated with arkain and the big dragon had No other choice but to fall in love with her, she seemd quite insistant the two of the should be together for she claimed she had seen him in a dream and knew that they would be together.
So, Arkain accepted the unrelenting yougne rooess and took her in as his mate, at first it all seemed kinda forced, arkain not being the type to allow himself to be forced into anything but it seemed right after awhile and Adriana was loving and supportive. and she was just as diplomatic as he was when dealing with the surrounding villages and saw how well she could difuse any situation with her wit and charm. whitch he belives is what caught his intrest in her in the end and finaly decided to go throught with the Azamundian tradition of marrage by mixing their blood and praiseing Daos and Dai'goth respectfully. but the mixing didn't seem to go well and after their first night together. Adriana became very ill. after a few weeks of what seemed like a sudden and almost fatal desease, it became very clear that she was Accualy Pregent,and only after their first night together this seemed very strange indeed as it was a rapid pregnecy too, in only one month, Adrian was Born.
almost immediately it was obviouse the child was a sorcerer, the doctor , Arkains advisors and even the red mage at the time all saw the evidence, the mark of a sorcerer was in the yougne boys eyes.
(in another version of this version, Adriana dies during childbirth and that's why Arkain named his son Adrian, in memory of his beloved)

in this version we just have Adriana and Her husband (another kangaroo) living in a village somewhere in Gothrin happily .until some strange and bizzar events occure around their house, thinking that mabey their cursed or their house is possesd by a demon, they call out for help and Arkain arrives from Azamunda to investigate and reveils that its their 5 year old boy Adrian is accualy a budding sorcerer and so the crimson dragon invites the family to come live in Azamunda with him so that their son can be properly trained in the arts of magic .
