"Hrrrng.... I killed a centipede last night with my shoe, and I could literally hear it squirming and dying (coulda swore I heard squealing too) as I watched it's hundred legs try to scramble away from the crushing force of my bravery. The more it squirmed, the harder I pushed, the more guts and what appeared to be massive amounts of crap came out of it (I'd shit too) My shoe was literally stuck to the wall a bit when I pulled away. Needless to say, it's insides were pretty much everywhere. I decided I had enough for one night and would clean it up tomorrow.
Now here's the gross part:
The centipede's guts aren't there any more.
Why?
I found an ant munching out on what was left of it's remains.
I don't know how to feel: infested or helped out. O_o;"
A DAY LATER...
"You've gotta be kidding me... ANOTHER (bigger) centipede, killed literally inches away from the last one... this time i made sure it was completely under my shoe so i didn't have to see it die... there's something frightening about doing that though, like what if i lift my shoe and it's still alive and it scurries up my leg? AJKDJSK!! i don't want to SEE it die to quench my fears EITHER because that... ugh, seeing that, HEARING that was like some sort of vietnam for me, i have PTSD now because i watched a centipede die... the legs go in all directions, they break off and it shits like a sprinkler and it makes the most terrible sound... when i pulled my shoe away from the wall i had to give it a little bit of muscle... the guts that seemed to be less and less everytime i came into the kitchen... the ant feasting on it's corpse in the wee hours of the morning on my way to bathroom... and every time, after the carnage is over and i leave the scene, i'm so shooken up... scared of even my pants rubbing against my leg...
need... cat warrior... in... house... x.x i don't think i can take this any longer!!!"
I'M SORRY GUYS I REALLY HATE BUGS, ONE TIME THERE WERE TWO RATHER UNPLEASANT LOOKING BUGS SITTING ON ONE WALL AND I STOOD THERE, STARED AT THEM FOR A MINUTE, AND STARTED CRYING. NO JOKE. I DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AND I WAS ALL ALONE!!!
although i stopped crying when i realized I had bought a vacuum recently hehehehe (also one step closer to becoming a woman)
I ALSO GET REALLY PANICKY AFTER A BATTLE, like i'll just jump in crazy fear at literally nothing, like a fuzz or something!!! LIKE LITERALLY MY PANTS SHIFTED ON MY LEG AND I JUMPED LIKE A STARTLED CAT??!?!!
here's to hoping i make it...
I have such a ridiculous fear of bugs that it's the only notable dislike on Charle's ref... D: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/11076207/

those big, heavy-duty claws that nestle just under the centipede's head are basically legs turned into venom-delivering fangs.
I don't like 'em at all, either, even though most other arthropods don't bother me much.
it's all in the way centipedes move -- that fast twisty-turny scuttle gives me the heebie-jeebies every time I see one doing it.

I hate spiders too, especially when they are bigger than a quarter. I had killed one crawling on my couch, and little did I realize, it had hundreds of baby spiders! They went all over the place, talk about scaring the crap out of me. I don't think that I could have gotten off of that couch any quicker. Lucky enough I had some spray that I rushed to grab.
adoöljspkvxdkälasövpo k,ÜÖ:AÄäö DX Bugs are evil.... BUT SPIDURRS ARE LIKE, THE DAMN WORST THING EVER Dx

God I hated those bugs! It brings back memories when I was in college. The building was LITTERED with them! On the floor would be SEVERAL of them trying to sneak into your backpack. On the ceiling and walls? You bet your ass they were on there watching you!
And the way they walk...it brings shivers up my spines! I swear they feed off of fear!

THe bug in picture reminds me of a house centipede. Ever seen those? If not, DON'T google it! I hate those the most second only to spider crickets. Ugh, spider crickets.... imagine if a daddy long leg and a cricket had a baby that can jump like a flee.
@%^$&&*%!!! I've got creepy crawlies just thinking about it!
@%^$&&*%!!! I've got creepy crawlies just thinking about it!
Omg ewww! Those are the worst!!! We had an infestation of those in my college dorms one year. I didn't sleep for like two weeks and had massive anciety. My grades actually plummeted during rhose dark times. And the ones we had weren't even that big. But we descovered very early on that they loved peoples' faces. That was reason enough to have a kaniption at bedtime every night. But hey... At least they weren't spider crickets. I had an all out war in my bathroom with one once and all I had to defend myself was a swiffer sweeper. X|
HOLY SHIT
WTF IS THAT
OHMYGOD I'M SO HAPPY THERE AREN'T ANY BIG INSECTS IN THE COUNTRY I LIVE
I'D SERIOUSLY DIE IF I SAW THAT IN MY HOUSE
Man, when I saw this drawing I was like, tch, it's just a tiny little bug, ( all insects in my country are like, max the size of an M&M or something.

I freak out at anything that has the ability to bite or sting you
This week I had to swat a wasp in the living room. I saw it fly out of nowhere and I freaked out so bad, my first instinct was to grab my baby nephew, second was to run to the far side of the large room.

ALL the bugs ? even bugs like this ? http://www.furaffinity.net/view/10619701/
I KNOW!!! My brother and his friend got a room, everyone else got a room, and I had to stay on the pullout couch in the game room (with an air hockey table) and deal with those bugs for like 3 days! On the last day of my stay I finally got a room after some people's had left but still...NEVER staying in a downstairs like that again...certainly not without proper protection. I will need a cat in my new apartment otherwise the bugs will kill me. If I see even a single spider I'll die of a heart attack TT^TT
I live in NC, not on the coast, but I know that a few years back there were reports of tons of brown recluse spiders showing up in beach houses all along NC's coast for no explainable reason?
so it could have been worse
it's okay tho, bugs are just tiny potential friends, even the ones that want to 'kill' you 8)

aww no, even the creepy ones need love! yes they aren't cute at first, but it's all a matter of pespective! if you can love bugs, you can love anything 8D
and mosquito hawks, why, i think what you mean is a good ol' fashion gollywhomper. or crane fly. and look, they don't even bite humans, so you're good to go! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crane_fly
plus check out how beautiful and trippy their eyes are, and once you get past the freaky hair, you may even start to see that they look like they have cute lil whiskers: http://www.images.ca/Cossey/Portrai.....ly%20Crane.jpg

house centipedes are cool little critters though. did you know that they like to curl up and groom their legs? not unlike kitty-cats 8) they also aren't any danger to humans as their bites are not strong enough to break human skin.
funny story 'bout em though, i've got a friend who has only seen them whilst tripping on acid, so he never knew if they were real or not. he always tried to tell his roommates about them, and how they were real, but they never believed him because they knew he was having an otherworldy psychedelic perception.

So, I was reading through this (yesterday?), and I absolutely agreed on how utterly horrifying house centipedes (or any centipede) are. I wasn't going to comment, but then I thought of this thread today. Why? Because I was in the basement, going to take a shower. I had gotten COMPLETELY undressed, walked over to the tub and thought "Alright, I'ma get in the shower, now." I looked on the floor of the tub, saw someone else's washcloth, thought nothing of it. Then I saw this HUGE house centipede, next to the washcloth, and thought "Nope, I'ma get dressed, now". UGH. D: I was utterly defenseless, the jerk just sat there. It's probably still sitting there, because I don't have the guts to deal with it (especially not after reading your awesome description xD), and my boyfriend is at work. D: Ugh...
You need to borrow my lizard, she is the HUNTER DESTROYER OF ALL THING INVERTEBRATE.
Plus, she's adorable. ;u;

While I don't have a fear of insects - http://i297.photobucket.com/albums/.....Picture065.jpg I had one these latch onto my foot a few years ago in the dark, and ill admit I almost crawled up the wall myself I was so startled XD
You won't find them where I live but if you sleep at my house you'll see a ghost then a spider or centipede. My cousin stayed here in my brothers room and he heard what sounded like a pool ball being dropped on sment. Get Break Cleaner kills everything and anything
i think im lucky where im at all we get are tiny millipedes. however the bad part is they smell something aweful DX I know your pain though, I live in the basement where its cooler for me and i always seem to end up finding some sort of bug :X i've learned keeping a broom or mini bat at hand to squish the suckers works really well i think the largest bug i've seen was while vacationing in hawaii and seeing this huge flying japanese cockroach. .__.;;;
also centipedes are normally eaten by shrews, toads, badgers and birds such as domestic chicken. Ground beetles and spiders also feed on centipedes. so maybe a pet bird or badger? :P (personally I think a badger as a pet would be neat even if it would be a high maintenance pet :3)

Ugh, I HATE bugs. I'm absolutely fine if I see them in the living room or bathroom or kitchen, but fuk that shit if I see a bug in my bedroom. That's where I sleep, yo, I don't want no bugs crawling down my throat while I sleep; I don't want bugs to be breedin' inside my body, yo.

At least you didn't get my mom's experience xD she's always been a tom boy so when she was playing at a friends house when she was younger and a fat, pregnant spider walked by and her friend freaked she felt like a bad ass and decided to squish it. Grabbed a napkin and squished it just to have it's guts pop and right into her mouth! EWWWWW FJADSKLFJDS DXXXX ugh I hate bugs too aklfd

I don't mind most bugs. I kept praying mantises as pets, played with ants, even like some spiders (released a cute little green one that was in my fresh spices into the garden.) Really only spider I don't like are the Australian giant ones and fiddlebacks, but otherwise bugs are fine and dandy....
... except centipedes. I freaking hate centipedes, they creep me the everloving freaking out.
This is my reaction to centipedes in the house.

around here we get centipedes about 6 inches long and they're the FAT kind. Since their front pair of "legs" is what they use to inject venom with I usually just crush the head or cut them off right behind the third set of legs, quick, clean, and keeps my hadns away from it. now earwigs on the other paw... *shudders*
There used to be a brand of cheap wine in Poland called "Satan's Sperm". Never got to drink it though. ;) http://ks366875.kimsufi.com/p3/2010.....3/61987104.jpg
when I was small I killed a huge spider with a water pistol.
the next days, ants were everywhere and the spider was gone, only green blood or whatever that was remained on the ground lol.
ah well it was on an isle on the ocean, so there are huge spiders XD.
duh but Centipedes... those must be freakkin creepy, being fast and such as well...

I saw a mama wolf spider in my sink the other day, try imagining a a BIG spider (2-dollar coin size) with hundreds of baby spiders on it's back scurrying everywhere when you kill it.
it was the creepiest thing i saw in my life .___. i now check the bed ...
and THOSE CENTIPEDIMOTHERFUCKERS make me jump out of the bed faster then i could EVER get out of bed in the morning.

Glad I live in Ireland, where the only creepy bastards you find are spiders, and they're harmless anyway aside from making me paranoid. There seem to be two types over here, the big spindly motherfuckers who are slow as shit, or the little fat bastards who can practically teleport, they're so fast. There's almost no substance in the body of the spindly bastards, so when you smack 'em with a shoe, they pretty much just crumble and the only sound is the -slam- of your shoe against the wall. All that remains is usually a shit load of legs, and a few drops of something brown which may be either blood or shit, I'm not sure.
The little ones, though... Not only are they hard to kill, but they do actually have a substantial body. One time, when I kicked one of them in its stupid face, I kinda half-missed and only got some of it. I saw it explode in two pieces. The part I hit stayed stuck to the wall and the other, say, three-quarters was launched into the air with what was probably a string of blood. I pulled my leg back so it wouldn't land on my leg as it fell, but as it hit the ground, it was still alive and struggling. So I God Stomped the bitch. God power keeps my pimp hand strong.
Looking around it now, there are bloodstains all over my room. One of them mine from when I had a nosebleed, but the rest are from spiders and I'm too damn lazy (and disgusted) to clean them up. The place is probably littered with spider and crane fly corpses. If this house ever becomes abandoned, people will probably think some serious shit went down in this room.
But yeah, we don't have anything exceedingly scary over here. Except the people.

T_T Centipedes may be bad, but pray to whomever you never hafta deal with fire ants. Those motherfuckers are scary! I live in the deep south near the gulf, so we have them ALL OVER THE PLACE! They sting like crazy just by WALKING ON YOU! And you can't hardly get rid of them when you have them. I'm a fifteen year old six foot two 260 pound football player, and i prefer not to get with in ten feet of a fire ant bed :C. Those mofuggas hurt!
Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck
A couple weeks ago I had a really epic battle with a spider and I was so scared that I was almost crying ;w;
The spider was like.. SO huge and I was like aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh
I had to put on epic battle music (not even joking) and build some kind of a weapon out of a broom so I could kill it because it was in like the corner of the roof and I wanted to make sure it would die the first time I tried instead of falling to the ground.
I was prepared to scream and run out of the room like a little girl if it had fallen.
;~; I hate bugs

You can kill all the centipedes you want, and I'll even let you have the spiders (though I won't allow anyone in this house to kill a spider because they eat centipedes and other bugs), but don't you ever kill a bee. Bees are adorable, incredibly valuable to nature, and are currently dying in huge droves already, likely because of human meddling. Considering the fact that they're the reason just about anyone eats fruits and veggies, this is a really bad thing, and it's probably best if you don't kill them and help the process along.
And they make honey. If you can find a farmer's market nearby, get some honey; you'll be surprised, there's actually flavors to the stuff depending on where the bee got pollen and nectar. Also it's like three times as good as supermarket honey anyways, so if you need honey, support your local apiarist!

You think this is bad? I was in my mom's car once and a spider lowered itself down right in front of my face. Usually, I like spiders but this was one of thoe askdhaslkjdfgasdv WHY ;_; moments. Also, I went to the bathroom once and there was a fucking wasp on the ceiling. A goddamn wasp. Fucking hate wasps with a motherfucking passion.
My husband was seriously just like "weren't you going to take a shower? Oh, by the way, I killed a house centipede in the shower."
I DON'T EVEN WANT TO BE IN THIS APARTMENT ANYMORE. WE'VE LIVED HERE TWO YEARS AND I'VE SEEN MORE HOUSE CENTIPEDES HERE THAN ANYWHERE ELSE IN MY LIFE COMBINED.

OH GOD FUCKING CENTIPEDES
okay so one day I was sewing in a carpeted room and I feel the frayed part at the end of my jeans tickle my foot and I disregard it and continue sewing. But then, like, the tickling continues so I peek under the table cloth and there is a fucking CENTIPEDE ON MY FOOT SCREAM
I kick it away and spring to my feet and run to get a shoe... come back and smack it, and the carpet $@&^@# cushions the blow. So I try harder a few times and literally nothing happens to it, it's still wriggling and crawling along and I'm freaking out... I'm afraid to pick it up with paper towels and flush it because it's kind of big and still alive and I can't tell if it's venomous or not... so I get the idea to kill it by cutting it with scissors. >_<
I cut it and watched in horror as BOTH HALVES KEPT WRIGGLING JESUS FUCK
So then I went crazy and diced it up into bits, which continued to wriggle and writhe augh
I reallly didn't want to pick it up at this point, and I was half mad with fright, so I cut up a cereal box and used it as primitive scoop to pick it up??? not even sure wtf I was doing. I think I finally flushed it and all it's gross horrible pieces, but the ordeal took like half an hour.
I feel ya about the bug PTSD, writing this my foot brushed against an object against the floor and I jumped. x_x This happened like five years ago, too.

I was at my grandparents house and I was watching a HUGE centipede crawl along the base of the wall. It happened to pass in front of a hole when suddenly a GIGANTIC spider rushed out and attacked it. I stood in slack jawed horror as I watched the spider eat the centipede. *shudders*
DAMMIT FALVIE
I honestly can't recall the last time I've seen a centipede. It's not a common thing. And now two days after you post this, I found one crawling on my wall and it was enormous and I looked around for something to kill it with and then it was gone and now it's loose in my room somewhere and I don't know where and that makes me not happy D:
WHY FALVIE. WHY

OH MY DD'X centipede's insides YUCK :D i shouldn't have read all the comments, i'll have to check my bedroom before to sleep, i feel like there are bugs under my clothes :I http://youtu.be/pZ6hSMFi2Qg
I dont mind spiders so much if they mind their space. I used to actively let them stay in my room to kill off the other bugs that ended up in there [including other spiders and centipedes]. there was only one rule though, which was 'I dont see you within arms reach of my bed, or it's over'. Havent really had a problem with it much since leaving home, except one time where my buddy was moving rooms in the barracks and found a massive Black Widow in the new room. He noped out fast as fuck and I stood out there laughing my ass off.
That being said on spiders...centipedes....yeah....I used to catch them in my back yard when I was a kid. I'd put them all into one container and check up on them every once in a while. I caught a particularly big one one time and it ended up cannibalizing the others xD

Evil little bastards. I always keep a can of raid (Bug killer spray stuff) on hand.. I mean.. Centipedes are one thing. But I had a spider crawling on the ceiling and it decided that it wanted to drop down on my lap.. I see the thing sliding down a string and hovering infront of my face before making its.. Spray can! Get away from me you evil thing.. I don't care as long as I don't have to see them.. Bugs do bug things OUTSIDE. Not in my bedroom.
Awhh it's just a scutigerid! :D I love those things! They eat household pests which is nice. And no, they don't bite. Having them around will lower other shitty bugs from being in your house.
But they are TERRIFYING and skitter so fast, they're like dumb feathery ninjas.
