Name: Hakt Dsento
Alias: Goldback Hakt
Age: 26
Alignment: Chaotic neutral
Gender: Male
Physical Description: 5'7" - quite short, but much more elegant than coyotes normally are. Has the powerful muscles and bone structure like a construction vehicle, but somehow his proportions and the way he moves and carries himself give him a liquid grace. Very, very handsome, as canines go. He has quite large, very dark grey eyes, golden fur (hence 'Goldback') shading to pewter grey down his spine and tail and golden hair worn short at the back but long in front of his ears. Has one piercing in his left ear, apart from that no jewellery but the copper bracelet and key necklace symbolising his marriage.
He wears a lot of black, and very nice black at that - Hakt likes style. He has a black leather trenchcoat without sleeves - this one started without sleeves, he has another one for really cold weather - black leather gauntlets and black leather pants (as tight as he can get them because he knows it gets Tren worked up). His sash is normally black with gold embroidery, or gold, and he often puts gold buckles on his boots.
Personality: Flamboyant, obviously, but not as camp as you'd think. The style act is more to do with personal confidence than vanity. Hakt is intelligent, quick-witted and occasionally malicious - this latter possibly one of the reasons why he finds Tren amusing. in the trying-to-make-you-uncomfortable situations, if Tren is finding the whole thing hysterical, Hakt is more likely to be happy that he's really ruined someone's evening for them.
He's very protective of Tren - one would think it would be the other way around, Hakt being the smaller of the two, but Hakt is also the more intelligent, and takes life much more seriously. He was in something of a rut when Tren came along, heading slowly but surely towards depression, or something like it. It turned out that a healthy dose of sarcasm, twisted humour, unpredictability and sex was exactly what he needed.
He is much more stable than Tren, and is the thing that stops Tren from flying off on a tangent and becoming a burden to everyone in the gang.
He doesn't suffer fools gladly, he likes a good fight - likes a good shag even better - and regards other people's opinions as insignificant. Tren's don't count in this last one, neither do Schlan's - mostly. Pertzo's do.
His main vice is tangible luxuries - little things, like jewellery, perfume, cloth, ornamental weaponry; that kind of thing. He's the only really expert art trader in Schlan's gang - most of the rest of the gang thought he was foolish to try it but he seems to be doing fairly well out of it. He's certainly doing better than when he was just an assassin. He's still an assassin - Hakt has no scruples and very few morals. He draws no lines.
Weapons: A knife on his left hip - what kind depends on what he's got at the time, but usually his weapons are quite pretty - and a katana in a back sheath (this last is his longest lasting weapon so far. It has a black and gold handle, and black and gold laquered sheath and a black tooled leather strap and so far he's had it for fourteen months. It was apparently a present from Tren, although how Tren could have got hold of it is a mystery). He also, when he can get bolts, has been known to carry a engraved pistol crossbow. He much prefers bladed weapons, but it does give him a little extra reach, as it were.
Any other things we should take note of: Trades in art, miscellanous luxury goods and pretty much anything else, and also occasionally works as an assassin for hire. He is incredibly good at this last one - his grace and stealth are by no means unconsiderable and he prides himself on knowing his job.
Born in the next village from Tren - a tiny little market town called Kamiro - and they met in a tavern on a dull market day. What he saw in Tren, initially, was someone who was out of the common - which is something that Tren certainly was. Hakt has always liked unusual things and Tren's particular brand of novelty at first attracted him and then made him almost mad with lust.
The loss of Tren would likely make Hakt uninterested in anything around him - Tren adds colour to Hakt's world, provides the soundtrack, as it were.
In fact, Hakt would never have joined Schlan's gang if it weren't for Tren. He didn't even like Schlan much at the time and outright hated Pertzo. But Schlan's opinions and those of the bandit leader's clashed, Tren was siding with Schlan and Hakt found he hated being asked to fight Tren, who refused to switch sides - so Hakt was alone for a while. Travelling with the gang as they were, this was pretty dangerous, and eventually it was Schlan who approached Hakt, told him they were leaving and invited him to come with them.
Schlan has regretted it a couple of times - Hakt and Pertzo fall out every now and again, even after all these years, and Hakt won't take orders from Pertzo - but mostly things run smoothly. Hakt is a brilliant knife fighter, assassin and spy and generally knows how to get hold of something should it be needed. These are valuable traits for any gang.
Even if, the first time the gang camped out together, they all found out how easily Tren can make Hakt scream...
