A heart, no matter how large or warm, can only give so much.
We agree to give up a piece of ourselves in order to help others stay whole, but we end up paying the price in the end.
As good as our initial intentions may be, there is only so much we can do without losing ourselves entirely.
But, a heart grows on, thumping to life's wonderful song.
Oh, you've done a wonderful job capturing such a grim realization. Yet, you manage to add a hint of hope in mentioning how despite its withering, that a heart is still there, beating a wonderful song of life. I may not have mentioned this before, but your more serious works are just amazing. Really, they are among the most impressive I've seen to date. Keep that heart beating, Jolee.
