Being a god already, Cathowl could have been an easy draw. But I decided to get ambitious and draw her as a different sort of god. And then artist's block slammed down hard on me, and it took ages to get this out.
Cathowl is a terrible DBZ Mary Sue, which is why her story will never be written, though I like her too much to throw her away. Cathowl's mother was a tiger goddess in an alternate DBZ universe. The animal-based gods of that world were slowly disappearing, and didn't know why. Cathowl's mother, along with two other goddesses (wolf, and eagle) gathered together and acquired DNA from Goku, Vegeta and... was it Trunks? Future Trunks maybe? I don't remember!
They used the DNA to have children that were part god, and part mortal, and each chose one of their children to be one of the first three of the new gods that would inherit the world from the older vanishing ones. Tigre "Cathowl" Son, daughter of Goku and the tiger. Howl Tailwag (his own choice of name), son of Vegeta and the wolf. And Go Briefs, son of the eagle and I'm totally not sure but I think Trunks? Which Trunks? If I gave a damn about the timeline (which I totally didn't when I was coming up with this), I'd say Future Trunks.
And they're all gods of Love because the gods are going to be based on concepts now, instead of animals, but Cathowl and Howl are grumpy about being gods of Love and would much rather be gods of War, and Cathowl likes Go (and has a secret thing for her father), and Go likes Howl a lot, and Howl is homophobic and likes Cathowl, so DRAMA!1!!1 And then New Enemies show up that are Even Stronger Than Before and only the three demi-gods who aren't yet grown into their powers can take them out and-
I CAN'T WRITE THAT STORY ANYMORE!
So cheesy... So much Sueage...
So I'm left with three characters who I still enjoy when taken out of their original context, but if I re-write their backstory, they won't be them anymore. Cathowl in particular is my favorite, being a particular type of messed up that amuses me as long as I don't have to face it in real life. Mildly alcoholic, sarcastic as hell (and responding to the sarcasm of others with "sarcasm directed at me is a sin"), and taking what opportunities she can to date alternate universe versions of her father... I like her.
Also, she'd be so angry with me for drawing her topless in this pic. I was so focused on the fire I didn't noticed until I was done. Oops!
ETA: Forgot her damn face markings! Urgh! And I can't edit them in, because I messed up saving the source file and lost a lot of the work I did between the last save, and the finished .png . Bleh.
