One of my characters, who is weak and frail, has this dog here to help me around the bar and around town. The dog's name is Arden and the owner's name is Gerarde. Arden is usually by Gerarde's side or in ear shot of him just in case he is needed. Arden can pick Gerarde up from the ground and even carry him if necessary. He's a big dog, about the size of a great dane.
He's very intelligent and can understand simple things like eye contact and hand motions. He can even understand full sentences as well.
Being how Gerarde found this guy as a pup on the streets, his bread has never been figured out. Gerarde just calls him a mutt when someone asks him what he's mixed with.
Oh I actually tried to get the eye color the correct color for the fur... I chose amber, a pale amber to go along with the color of his fur.
Note: I love drawing the ocean a little to much... lol XD but it's all good right?
This is not a wolf!

Yes, a bit deeper/taller/boxier/stockier. I'm having a hard time thinking of an appropriate mix, though ... something with perky ears and longer fur on the muzzle to match your art which not a lot of breeds have (some do, but many long-furred breeds such as the classic collie tend to have shorter muzzlefur).
Could just have him as a mutt mix.
