Eurydice is a rosefinch koronous, born of the highest branches of an ancient oak crawling up the side of an even more ancient mountain some quiet, snowy night, with a feature rare to koronous - a small set of wings, a marveled gift, however useless in flight. She traveled up and down the mountain with the finches as the weather changed, tending the noble trees that grew there. One day, her trip was shorter than before. Men had devoured the forest at the bottom of the mountain, and now were starting up the side. She appealed to them by speaking reason, explaining that the rosefinches loved and needed the huge oaks, but the men wouldn't hear reason. She tried to sacrifice to Pan, ripping feathers out from her magnificent crown. But Pan didn't come, and the men continued to rip out the homes of the rosefinches and many other wildlife, as well as damage the magnificent trees themselves. Growing desperate, Eurydice cut out her own heart as a sacrifice, atop the crest of the mountain, and as her tragic blood started to slide down the slope, she died there.

This ultimate sacrifice accepted, Pan came to Eurydice in haste and granted her a new, magical heart, as well as a heart tattoo. Eurydice's new heart was powerful and very loving, granting her the ability to mend other broken hearts. Pan reasoned with Eurydice, that since the sacrifice she made had killed her, he gifted her the magic heart, but, seeing as she was full of such potent love, there was no way he could keep her from loving just the wild, and so also granted her her freedom. Eurydice put her gift to good work, mending first the broken heart of the forest, then of the rosefinches, and then, the men at the bottom of the hill whom had become heartbroken at Eurydice's sacrifice. Eurydice still spends most of her time on her beloved mountain, but often ventures out to help beings that've lost all love, bringing it once again to warm their hearts.
