betsy combining two of my favorite things: Squirrels and Moxie. For those outside of the northeast (well northern New England and parts of eastern Pennsylvania), Moxie is an American soft drink, believed to be the oldest bottled soft drink (1885) in the country. Some soft drinks are older, but were available only at soda fountains or in barrels (ginger ales and root beers). Moxie was the first to be offered in bottles and was the number one soft drink in the USA through about 1929. Invented by a Mainer after he set-up shop in Massachusetts, Moxie is the Maine state soft drink.
