The local quagmire was a place of death. Too often over the years had bodies been found floating face down in the fetid waters and there were more than a few bones of so-called witches bound to heavy stones that rested at the bottom of the murky depths. One would never think that such a foul place would spawn a new life. Yet through diabolic machinations and forgotten sciences a creature of muck and murderous intent arose from that watery grave. For a year and a day the creature was bound to those wretched waters and in those days any that dared come near vanished beneath the black with naught but a ripple in their wake. Yet now as the harvest moon rises the bonds were shattered that the creature’s foul cry filled the night air. The hunt was on and the thing from the swamp could smell the living oh so close at hand. A black toothed grin and glowing yellow eyes would soon become the stuff of horror stories among the villagers. The moss dog had been set loose.
Tora Grined as she watched the silly Tanuki run into the wrong place at the wrong time, seeing him sink and strugle in the cold swamp water as she watched her loyal pet raise up out of the dark muddy waters to enjoy it's free meal.

I love it! Salix looks so feral and hungry! I love the way you do those blank eyes. Poor tanuki though.
The grin that peeled back the black lips of the verdant hound as it heard prey wandering into its territory would do a Cheshire proud. The beast was hungry and he had gained a taste for flesh. Bones will snap like twigs beneath the force of those slavering jaws!

I'm just going to do my best to TRY and go along with events smoothly. So here it goes!
While there were events unfolding in various places in the land, the undead butcher once known as Linda Sawyer was busy lurking about, gruesome cleaver in hand dragging behind her lightly lurching body, old wounds upon her body open for all to see of black and marooned blood, clothes dirty and tattered. The demonic bruiser of wolf-butcher was one of Torasteins sort of "Commanders" due to the devilish butcher's size and strength, and the ability to quite literally tear through living, or dead, was an evil to be reckoned with. However Torastein was the one who brought the fallen butcher back to life, and holds control of her. The wolfess was often a loose cannon threatening to throw discrimination to the wind and cut anyone down, whether they be living or dead... Hair messily draping over her dirtied injured face, still retaining her physical appearance, the only thing proving she wasn't living, or friendly were the injuries and her glowing red eyes and the evil baring of her teeth. The hulking butcher wanders aimlessly, but regardless of where her groans of hatred echo out almost as loudly as her cleaver scraping the ground. "Meat.... Flesh... Mutilate..." the living beware... Less you be hung by a meat hook bled like the swine you are...
[INTERESTING SIDE IDEA!]
Will the townsfolk remember the butchers face? Will they know how bravely she fought for them and died for their safety? Is the hulking monster which was once their savior damned for the remainder of her days serving Torastein and leaving bloody messes in her wake? Or is there someone among them, holy enough to bring her back and heal her, so that she may once again defend the people she once cared for? Or is it far too late, and far too impossible to try and battle for her humanity?(furmanity?) Will they give her mercy and end her life in undeath? Or will she prove too strong and help destroy them all....?

Man thats just downright creepy. I know I already posted a story idea for townsfolk, but I got a monster idea I just can't pass up on, hope thats ok.
Don't go into the woods they said, or the Forest Witch will eat your face and nail your bones to the tree's. That was the story mothers told their children to keep them from wandering into the woods at night, the story of a boogeyman to keep them in line. Yet when the moon rises, and the fog creeps in from the woods the townsfolk would hurry inside, bar their doors and shutter their windows. They do their best to pretend that they don't hear claws scraping on the doors, or a woman's voice asking them to come out and play, and they try to convince themselves that those found missing in the morning never existed at all. But they can't ignore the skulls they find nailed to the inside section of the walls they had built to try and keep them safe...

Moss dog, hee... ^^; I shouldn't laugh, it'd be scary if it was real, but all the build up to a monster called the 'moss dog' kinda makes me laugh a little. ^^;
Great pic, tho! You're really good at these haunting atmospheres, mist coiling around trees and such. The effect of the muck clinging to both of them is very well done, too.
Some great posing in this, and I like the tunic the tanuki has on. :) Good expression on them, too. ^^
Nice work!
