When you can't get drunk off of alcohol, going out for drinks with your friends after work can be a potentially tricky situation. Three will try to drink lightly and shrug it off, but she always needs to be careful not to raise suspicion. It's a small thing, but she's had her secret figured out by lots of little things more often than a few big ones.

My mental thought of this is that she's in a world that's probably at mid-1800's level of technology. Some industrial technology and conveniences, but hard labor and work is still valued. She probably works in a factory and is celebrating someone's promotion. The cup she's drinking from is meant to be downed in a few hard swigs instead of sipped by virtue of the fact that you can't set it down without spilling it.
