I really hope this isn't a setup to start pulling at heartstrings. The original was sad enough XD
To be honest though, it's nice seeing a comic that actually pulls emotion out of people. I felt horrible after reading the latter parts of Kiss the Rain. Made me wanna get in my car and go hug my own mate tightly. So what you're doing here... you're doing it right. Even if there ends up being a river of tears after everyone's done reading XD

Reminds me of this hentai I read once. The guy was in love with this girl, but she had passed on before they could really start their live together. He was about to move and wanted to say good bye to her for the last time. They have one last affair before he left. It ends with him under a tree, their fave spot, just waking up.
I really hope it's not a dream for Ken. That'd be sooo awesome if it was like all the death was a dream. I had a crazy theory.. Maybe Shou had to go to school or something and had no way to contact Ken so this whole Shou dying was a preception his mind made and it soon got the best of him and his preception overcame his reality and made himself believe his own lie. It's just a guess and I hope it's true or something like that because that'd be cute.
