Wonder how one becomes a luminari?

...okay, so there's a bunch of reasons and methods, but that's a lot of boring text to read through! But yes, magic is the basis behind most of it.

Well, if you ask very nicely...

There's lots of canon reasons to get feesh'd! Luminari trade heavily in shapeshifting pendants, as their ability to alter their form is one of their trademarks, so, of course, they seek to profit by selling that magic through amulets and pendants. Some are the real deal - others are amateurish or false attempts that might lock you into the feeshy form (or between forms, or in something you didn't want to be at all) - I tend towards the real deal since I like my transformations on the happier side, but there's lots of embarrassing scenarios that could result from the use of luminari magic, for those into that sort of thing!

Or if you don't want a background story or canon reason behind it, I can just feesh you up myself! I've been fortunate in that a fair number of folks I know have wanted to try on the feesh form for themselves, so there's a fun lil' story for each one! It's all up to you!

I still have the picture of giant Meph-inari rising from the depths scaring the the bejebus out of the scavenging ship.

They're still wanting compensation for lost relics and displaces ruins. <_<

Its a three part mephlumi series that Shiro did a fair bit ago.

Right now I've got a plan to have Lauren possessed by a number of beings in turn in a set from Shiro, and I briefly pondered a luminari form, I don't know if there might be any explanations that might be appropriate... :)

Sure, there were a fair number of luminari that play with the darker side of magic. Luminari tend to enjoy intrigue and scheming, and are well-known for it - leading to quite a number of magics developed to sense shapeshifters and disguises. Therefore, a particularly crafty one would've found a way to disappear into spirit form, then simply take over the person they wished to impersonate. Though possession has its perks, the spirit form is effectively immortal, leaving them...probably bored. Say, if someone as interesting as Lauren were to be wandering about, unaware, then they might think you would make a very exciting sort of person to play with...

Lauren started out by getting possessed by a phoenix. ;) In her phoenix form she'll get possessed by something else, that will force out the first being and take over her body, manipulating her form into something new. ;) I've never been a feesh though :)

Well, if you'd like to be a feesh, then, feel free to let me know! I can give you an idea of what colors/aspects they tend towards and we can run from there.

'Gorgeous'? I do like your character designs a lot.

Luminari can come in any shade of blue or green, or less commonly, gray or purple. One of the things that stands out a lot on Lauren is the intense *blue* in her hair, so maybe an electric blue tint of skin? I could see more slimmed ears - instead of the standard fans you see on Shiro work, maybe a slimmer length, somethin' like on here? http://imageshack.us/a/img441/6159/.....keysbykleo.jpg A lil' taller, mayhaps - luminari range from five feet to nine, but the average hovers around seven or so - with thick, meaty tail to sway behind her. The possessor could be a stronger, sly sort of person, coaxing Lauren into the form with a more enjoyable sort of magic - a gentle grip, warm, just enough to keep her struggling, but uncertain as to *why*, the lapse in judgment just enough for them to seize full control...

That's an idea for it, anyway. You can toy with it as you please! I don't do as much possession-oriented TF, so my experience is a bit lacking.

Well, for myself, the pendant is a fragment of pure elemental water, which I use to transform into the form.

In the case of Kaw and Thenny, it's more a re-imagining piece. "What if they were feesh?"
