I dreaded this because I was worried it'd look bad because...Dragon. Thanks for believing in me though because I'd have probably just not drawn one of these again if I didn't have to and now...I'd like to work on them some more. Maybe not just Dragons though. A phoenix maybe!
Done in Corel Painter 12, as usual. Airbrushes, markers, customs, glows and effects. Tried a few things I'm not used to this time. I haven't drawn a dragon in YEARS first off and then LAVA. I almost forgot the smoke xD BUT I got it! Also the first piece of fan art I've done in a good long while...Not too many refs of Smaug out there corolate to eachother it seems...Had to re-read things and use what was there for ideas until I got him to feel like what I figured he should look like!
